Job Description
We are currently looking for an experienced communicator with operational drive and strategic insight, focusing on crisis communication, for a municipality in southern Stockholm. The role is central to the municipality's work with crisis preparedness, serious incidents, and civil defense.
About the Role
You will help build structures and working methods – and step into operational work when needed. The role involves close collaboration with the security department, the communications unit (where you work closely with a colleague with a broad mandate within civil defense), management, operations, and external actors such as voluntary organizations.
We are looking for someone who is secure, structured, and analytical, with the ability to maintain calm and judgment even under time pressure. You have high integrity, good collaboration skills, and a professional approach. You are pedagogical, solution-oriented, and have an easy way of building trust within the organization.
Scope: Full-time, starting September 1st, initially for the remainder of the year. Possibility of extension exists.
Responsibilities
- Develop and visualize internal support documents such as templates, checklists, and key messages. Build up intranet pages with support related to crisis communication.
- Review, develop, and optimize external web information relevant to crisis preparedness and civil defense.
- Support communicators and office managers in creating, structuring, and further developing crisis communication plans, including scenario-based plans linked to risk and vulnerability analysis and continuity planning.
- Develop concepts for training and exercises in crisis communication for employees in the communications unit, in close collaboration with the security department.
Qualifications
Requirements
- University education in communication, media, or other relevant education assessed as equivalent by the employer.
- Several years of experience in qualified communication work, preferably within the public sector, government agencies, or other complex organizations.
- Documented experience working with crisis communication, communication during serious incidents, or societal disruptions.
- Ability to work both strategically and operationally – from planning to implementation.
- Very good ability to express yourself clearly and in a target-group adapted manner in speech and writing in Swedish.
- Good understanding of the communication role in crisis management and collaboration between actors.
Merits
- Experience working in a crisis staff or similar function.
- Experience in planning and conducting crisis exercises and training.
- Knowledge of civil defense, total defense, or municipal crisis preparedness.
- Experience with intranets, web publishing, and digital support areas.
- Experience collaborating with security functions, management, and external actors.
