to apply for the job

As an employee at Atleverket Treatment and Waste Management within the Technical and Service Administration, you will have a meaningful job in a broad, socially important operation that affects all residents of Örebro. Every day.

About the position

The Atleverket unit comprises two groups: Treatment and Recycling Centers and Stations. As a machine operator with us, you will belong to the Treatment group. Within Atleverket Treatment, we work with the reception, sorting, reloading, treatment, and recycling of waste in various fractions. Our environmental technicians are also responsible for contacts with waste suppliers, transporters, and contractors, as well as the operation of our sludge reception facilities and landfill. In this position, you are employed as an Environmental Technician but hold the title of Machine Operator/Truck Driver.

The role is broad and involves both machine operation (wheel loader, material handler, and possibly excavator) and truck driving. Machine operation takes place within the Atleverket area, while truck driving occurs both within and outside the area. You will, for example, drive between the recycling center and the treatment plant, as well as to external reception facilities and processors of fractions such as wood, plastic, and metal.

Within the Waste Management department, you become part of a team of approximately 70 employees who work together to deliver sustainable and accessible waste management. We want to make it easy for the residents of Örebro to sort correctly and reduce their waste. We operate from several different work locations and move around the entire Örebro municipality, which means you will meet many colleagues and citizens in your daily work.

Examples of tasks:

  • Loading various fractions into containers with a wheel loader, sorting, driving, and working at the landfill, etc.
  • Using material handlers/wheel loaders to handle and sort waste fractions
  • Pick up, drive, and drop off waste fractions with a truck
  • Maintenance of vehicles and associated equipment, as well as keeping the facility clean and tidy
  • Internal contact with customer reception/the weighbridge, coordinator, and external contact with transporters, contractors, and citizens
  • Road maintenance at the facility
  • Documentation, orders, and other related tasks

About the workplace

Within Waste Management, dedicated employees work in four units: customer service, transport, Byggreturen (Construction Return), and Atleverket. The operations at Atleverket, which is Örebro Municipality's waste facility, include the groups Treatment and Recycling Centers and Stations. Within the Treatment group, we currently have nine employees.

We work largely with the operation of Atleverket, which includes customer reception, weighing in and out of waste fractions, coordination of trips and deliveries, as well as control of waste fractions, and loading, sorting, treatment, and landfilling of waste using wheel loaders, material handlers, excavators, and trucks.

In addition, we are responsible for two sludge reception facilities and a leachate and stormwater system with associated wetlands. Our mission is to provide sustainable and accessible waste management that utilizes our natural resources through, among other things, recycling and reuse.

Working hours: Monday to Friday, 07:00-16:00.
