Dental Assistant for Orofacial Medicine and Cariology, Region Västerbotten

Västerbotten Public Dental Service offers general dental care and specialist dental care across all specialties. We participate in the clinical education of dentists, dental hygienists, and dental technicians, and also operate a dental technical business. We offer modern and well-equipped clinics and are at the forefront of research and development through our close collaboration with the Department of Odontology at Umeå University.

The specialist dental care is primarily located at the base unit Norrland's Academic Dental Care, adjacent to Norrland's University Hospital in Umeå. Our operations are one of several within the same base unit.

Orofacial Medicine is a referral center for patients who require dental treatment as part of their medical treatment, serving patients from both Region Västerbotten and the other Norrland regions. Orofacial medicine covers prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of complex oral conditions linked to systemic diseases and/or disabilities. For patients requiring special care, we have the possibility of sedation and even dental treatment under general anesthesia.

Cariology receives referred patients from general and specialist clinics within the Public Dental Service as well as from private healthcare providers. Specialist-level cariology treatment includes cause investigation, risk assessment, diagnosis, disease treatment, and rehabilitation of patients with uncontrolled caries disease. Conditions such as erosive tooth wear, enamel hypoplasia, and dry mouth are also part of the cariology treatment panorama.

Job Responsibilities

As a dental assistant with us, you provide important service and enable interventions that impact others.

We are looking for a dental assistant who wants to work within the dental field. In this role, you will assist with investigations and treatments (including nitrous oxide and anesthesia). You will also handle certain administrative tasks as well as sterilization and reception duties. Close and good cooperation with healthcare is important.

We work daytime hours Monday to Friday and use the T4 medical record system.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who have a high school education, where a nursing assistant education or equivalent is highly meritorious. If you have previous experience from dental care, reception, or healthcare work, it is valuable.

As a person, you are flexible and find it easy to collaborate with others. You are proactive and thrive both in assisting and working independently. You are administratively minded, have a good command of the Swedish language, and express yourself well in speech and writing.

Great importance is attached to personal suitability.
