Within the Clinic for Anesthesia, Surgery, and Intensive Care, emergency and planned surgical care, anesthesia, postoperative care, intensive care for children and adults, and sterile technical operations are conducted at the regional and county level. This is done in close collaboration with other clinics in the county. The clinic is also responsible for air transport of intensive care patients in the north, as well as conducting research, development, and education.

Operation 3 in Umeå is now looking for a Service Assistant. On our ward, we work with highly specialized cancer surgery and vascular surgery. Our procedures include upper gastrointestinal surgery (pancreas, liver, and esophageal resections), colorectal surgery, gynecology, urology, and endocrine surgery (such as breast and thyroid operations). We also perform advanced vascular surgery, including abdominal aorta and carotid surgery. Several of these procedures are performed using robot-assisted surgical techniques. We are also responsible for organ donation and multitrauma care.

We are now looking for a Service Assistant for Operation Ward 3 at Norrlands University Hospital in Umeå.

Job Responsibilities

As a Service Assistant with us, you provide essential service and enable interventions that impact many people. You are a vital part of the operation department and will be the person who ensures daily operations run optimally. You play a key role in delivering high-quality and safe care to patients.

In the role of Service Assistant, you perform care-adjacent service tasks, such as:

• Cleaning operating rooms between surgeries and preparing them for the next procedure.
• Cleaning the department's medical aids and equipment.
• Restocking daily consumable materials.
• Emptying and transporting laundry and waste.
• Submitting specimens/samples to the pathology department.

Additionally, you ensure that the physical working environment is inviting and that healthcare staff have good practical conditions to perform their daily work.

The workplace is characterized by high competence, flexibility, good camaraderie, and a forward-looking attitude. It is an active job where heavy lifting may occur. You are an important part of the team on the ward.

The work is scheduled during weekdays and weekday evenings.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who enjoys interacting with people, is social, and has an eye for service. To thrive in this role, you must be flexible, reliable, meticulous, and able to work both in a team and independently. It is important that you have a respectful and welcoming attitude towards staff, patients, and relatives in a hospital setting.

We would appreciate it if you have an interest in working in a healthcare environment, particularly in surgical operations. Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability and good knowledge of hygiene.

Merits: Experience in the service industry (retail, hotel, restaurant, etc.) and previous experience in service within healthcare are positive.
