Region Västerbotten works to ensure that good health and sustainable development strengthen each other. We take responsibility for an equitable welfare system and for ensuring that research and innovation yield results.

Lycksele Hospital is a small, modern, and well-equipped emergency hospital in Southern Lapland. It features wards and clinics within areas such as surgery, radiology, internal medicine, rehab/stroke, ophthalmology, maternity/gynecology, psychiatry, Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (BUP), and pediatrics. The hospital and the proximity of its various departments offer a unique opportunity for cross-disciplinary development and learning, providing a broad foundation to stand on. We maintain close collaboration between clinical units both within the hospital and across the county.

The Centre for Obstetrics and Gynecology Västerbotten (CFOG) is a county-level organization where the county's three hospitals are included and collaborate.

CFOG's unit in Lycksele, with approximately 30 employees, has a joint labor and delivery ward, a gynecology ward, a gynecological clinic, specialized maternal care, and a midwife clinic. In Lycksele, we are responsible for women's healthcare in Southern Lapland, where many of our patients have a travel distance of up to 300 kilometers.

Our mission includes providing both emergency and planned outpatient and inpatient care to pregnant women, primarily those living in the interior of Västerbotten, but also to women elsewhere in the county.

Among our staff are nursing assistants, midwives, doctors, secretaries, and social workers. We are currently working on an exciting development project where we have, among other things, created spaces designed to offer a warm and homelike environment. Here, we have a high staff density, allowing you the opportunity to give patients your time, be present, and provide support during births as part of the teamwork on-site. We value a good work environment with ample development opportunities for our employees.

As a work group, our goal is to provide labor and gynecological care where every patient's/parent couple's wishes are respected as far as possible.

Job Responsibilities

As a nursing assistant with us, you contribute knowledge and engagement that makes people feel safe.

At our facility, nursing assistants play a vital and obvious role in the team, contributing to patient-safe care of high quality. In our view, the nursing assistant's role in the delivery room is of great significance. You are a key part of non-medical pain relief methods, such as providing massage to the birthing person, assisting with position changes, and offering reassurance to the birthing person and their partner.

To grow in your professional role and provide the best care, we believe it is important to have job satisfaction and the opportunity for continuous development. The tasks are varied, including assisting with deliveries, caring for newborns and mothers in the maternity ward, and post- and pre-operative care. Ward duties such as cleaning, serving meals to our patients, and inventory management are also part of the role. Clinic reception duties may also be included.

Qualifications

We are looking for you with a completed nursing assistant education. Experience in labor and delivery and maternity care is meritorious.

We seek someone who puts the patient first, has a good attitude, and adapts their care to the patient's various needs. You take initiative, are easy to work with, and are curious about new challenges. You feel responsible and thrive in an environment with varied tasks and changing intensity. For us, it is natural that you can work both independently and in a team. Attention to detail and teamwork skills are qualities we value.

Since "nursing assistant" is a protected title, you must provide a certificate from the National Board of Health and Welfare (Socialstyrelsen), or alternatively, an employment certificate that qualifies you under the National Board of Health and Welfare's transitional provisions, allowing you to use the title until June 30, 2033.

Employment Type: Fixed-term employment.
Duration: 6 months or longer, start date: 2026-09-01 (Start date by agreement), end date: 2027-08-31.
Working Hours: Shift schedule.
