Do you want to lead the development of tomorrow's social services?
In Lund, a significant transition is underway where the new Social Services Act creates opportunities to work more preventively, accessibly, and closer to the residents. We are now looking for a Director of Operations who wants to take a central role in this work and contribute to creating better living conditions for children, young people, and adults.
As Director of Operations, you will become part of the management group of the Employment and Social Services Administration and help shape the strategic development of the administration. Together, we work for a social services sector with high quality, strong collaboration, and a focus on the needs of the people of Lund.
You report directly to the Head of Administration.
About the role
As Director of Operations, you are responsible for preventive and accessible services for children, young people, and adults. You play a key role in translating the intentions of the new Social Services Act into practice and developing services that meet today's and tomorrow's needs.
You have overall responsibility for operations, economy, personnel, and working environment within your area. Currently, you lead four unit managers and create conditions for a business characterized by quality, innovation, and good goal achievement.
An important part of the assignment is to build and develop collaboration with other municipalities, authorities, and partners. You represent the operations in steering and management groups where several actors work together to strengthen support for children, young people, and families.
You actively contribute to the administration's strategic development and represent the operations in political contexts by presenting cases and participating in committees, boards, and other forums.
Who are you?
We are looking for a secure, clear, and development-oriented leader who creates results through others. You thrive in complex contexts where collaboration, trust, and long-term perspective are crucial for success.
You have the ability to switch between strategic work and the daily operations, translating political decisions, legislation, and goals into concrete results. Through your leadership, you create engagement, participation, and direction while driving change and development.
You build strong relationships, communicate clearly, and see collaboration as a natural path to better results. For you, development work is not a project alongside operations – it is a natural part of the assignment.
Qualifications
We are looking for you who have:
- a university education of at least 180 higher education credits in social work or another relevant academic education
- at least five years of documented managerial experience
- experience leading operations in collaboration between social services, healthcare, police, and schools
- experience working in a politically governed organization or in close collaboration with political leadership
- very good knowledge of the Social Services Act and good understanding of adjacent legislation within healthcare and schools
- experience leading and coordinating operations across organizational boundaries
- good knowledge within the working environment area
- experience of collaboration with trade union organizations.
It is meritorious if you have:
- experience leading other managers
- completed leadership training
- experience with operational development
- experience with project and process management.
Personal qualities
To succeed in the role, you are strategic, analytical, and development-oriented. You see the big picture and understand how different operations interact to create value for the people we serve.
You lead through trust, clarity, and participation and have the ability to create engagement even in change. You make well-founded decisions, stand firm when conditions change, and drive development work with both courage and endurance.
We offer you
Here you have the opportunity to work with a socially important assignment where, together with engaged managers and employees, you contribute to creating better living conditions for the people of Lund. You become part of an administration that values courage, trust, collaboration, and development, and where you have the opportunity to influence the future of social services.
As an employee in Lund Municipality, you are also offered a workplace characterized by knowledge, collaboration, and development, as well as benefits that contribute to balance, security, and a sustainable working life.
About the recruitment process
The last day for applications is August 19. The first interviews will be conducted digitally via Teams and are planned to take place on August 27, 28, and 31. Final interviews on-site are planned for September 2, 3, and 7.
In this recruitment, we have chosen to remove the cover letter and replaced it with selection questions. Your answers will become an important part of our selection work.
We are part of the Employment and Social Services Administration where approximately 600 employees provide support to the people of Lund who need social services. Together, we ensure that children and young people get as good an upbringing as possible. We start from the whole family's situation and that no one should come to harm. It is about providing support to adults with harmful use and addiction or mental disabilities, to those who need financial assistance, guardians, administrators, or support to be able to study or work, as well as to refugees.
Here you have room to grow. Within Lund Municipality, we put knowledge at the center and create opportunities to develop in working life. We offer an inclusive working environment and the chance to influence and make a difference. Do you want to become one of us?
