Engineer for Transfusion Medicine, Academic Hospital
We are Akademiska sjukhuset – one of Sweden's leading university hospitals. As a county hospital and provider of highly specialized care, we offer healthcare to two million people in Central Sweden. Something is always happening here – a new life is born, a grandmother undergoes surgery, a colleague is hailed as a hero. With us, you will experience both tough trials and fantastic events, in a strong community with colleagues. We welcome your application!
Our Operations
Hemotherapy is part of the Academic Laboratory and the Section of Clinical Immunology and Transfusion Medicine. The Academic Laboratory is responsible for medical diagnostics, counseling, research, development, treatment, and education. Our customers are primarily located in Uppsala County and in our Central Swedish region. In total, we have approximately 500 employees with operations at Akademiska sjukhuset and the Hospital in Enköping, as well as in our blood donation trailer and blood bus.
The Department of Transfusion Medicine is responsible for ensuring the blood supply in the Uppsala region and for dispensing the right blood to the right patient. Through donations at Akademiska sjukhuset and via our blood bus and blood donation trailer at numerous collection sites in the region and neighboring regions, we ensure the blood supply. At the transfusion medicine department, blood components are also produced and patient treatments using apheresis technology are performed. We are also the reference blood center in Sweden and ensure that transfers between our donor registers work correctly nationwide.
Your Role
At the transfusion medicine department, you are responsible for our integrations between our main database system, ProSang, and our various instruments. You are also responsible for the integrations from ProSang to other database systems. This is done in collaboration with the hospital's IT department and object specialists at the department.
As an engineer, you are also responsible for parts of our instruments. This includes, among other things, verifying and validating in consultation with the process manager and the responsible physician. You will also have contact with companies, IT, operations, and Medical Technology to ensure everything functions as it should.
You will act as the technical coordinator with our suppliers regarding technical questions relevant to the area of responsibility. This includes, among other things, being responsible for troubleshooting if needed.
Your role also includes extracting statistics from our programs.
You will participate in tenders and purchases, as well as the planning of new instruments for the operations.
Together with the responsible physician and process manager, you ensure that necessary documentation is established in our documentation system, Centuri, during new acquisitions or changes before instruments and methods are put into operation.
You also ensure that information and training regarding new working methods are communicated to relevant employees.
As we are an accredited operation, quality and safety are of utmost importance.
