Do you want to work as a personal assistant for a 13-year-old boy living with his family in Strängnäs? We are looking for an assistant to cover absences and holidays. As a substitute, you must be able to work both day shifts and wake-up night shifts.

About the position

Our client is a 13-year-old boy with cerebral palsy (CP), epilepsy, and autism-like behaviors. He uses a wheelchair but can also move around with support. He does not have verbal speech, so you must be empathetic and attentive to the boy's signals to understand him. He needs help with everything in his daily life. During school hours, he attends school without assistance, but during holidays and days off, he has assistance during the day as well. The boy loves everything that spins and rolls and can spend hours rolling large stones. He is also a YouTube enthusiast and loves his tablet.

The work is based on respect for individual self-determination and integrity. A thorough and clear introduction is provided upon employment, ensuring that you, as an assistant, feel secure, but primarily so that the client feels safe with you. There are cats in the home, so you should not be allergic to cats.

Who you are

You should preferably have experience in personal assistance, preferably working with children within the LSS (Support and Service Act for persons with certain functional impairments). You must be loyal, flexible, and mature in your approach to various situations, both demanding and less demanding. You should be able to adapt your pedagogical approach to the individual. Experience with epilepsy, low-affective interaction, and experience with challenging behavior are meritorious.

As a personal assistant, you work in the boy's family home. Therefore, it is important that you are good at communicating, have a good and respectful attitude, and possess strong empathetic skills.

Since the boy does not have spoken language and has difficulty expressing himself, you must be creative, receptive, and attentive to small signals. Experience in personal assistance is meritorious, but personal suitability and care experience carry the most weight. Please include your availability in your application.

Since the boy is under 18 years old, a certificate of good conduct (extract from the criminal record) is required before employment.

• You must not be a smoker.
• You should not be allergic to cats.
• You must have a driver's license and a car to commute to and from work, as public bus connections are insufficient.
