Do you want to work with children's and young people's reading in the heart of Hälsingland? There is now an opportunity to apply for a fun and creative job as a children's librarian. We are a work group of 10 people who work closely together, and you will join a subject team consisting of two other children's librarians and two assistants. The team collaborates on the entire target group of children and young people, planning and developing operations together. For the right person, this offers great freedom to influence the content of the tasks and express professional creativity.

We believe that children and young people deserve 50% of the space, 50% of the staff, and 50% of the media budget.

Bollnäs Library is centrally located in Bollnäs in the Cultural Quarter, alongside a cultural house and cultural school. It is a creative workplace with many collaborations where we help and support each other to provide citizens with a broad and high-quality cultural offering.

Job Responsibilities

The responsibilities include, in addition to standard librarian duties:

• Evaluate and develop the library's operations together with the subject team.
• Be responsible for reading promotion activities for the age group 6–12 years.
• Plan and participate in activities such as Family Saturdays.
• Receive school class visits.
• Scheduled shifts where you guide and assist visitors with library matters, such as digital participation, as well as information and literature searching.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who have a degree in Library and Information Science or a similar higher education qualification that the employer deems equivalent.

You have experience with and enjoy working with children of various ages. You are knowledgeable about modern children's literature and children's cultural habits, and you believe that children's participation is as important as it is necessary.

You are curious about new ways of working and possess broad digital competence.

As a person, you are social and fearless. You enjoy working with and speaking to both children's groups and colleagues.

You will work as part of a subject team with shared responsibility for the children's department and the youth department, as well as towards associations and other actors. To succeed in this role, you must be unpretentious, collaborative, and not afraid to drive processes independently.
