Lund University was founded in 1666 and is consistently ranked among the world's leading universities. We have approximately 46,000 students and 8,500 employees in Lund, Helsingborg, and Malmö. We are united in our strive to understand, explain, and improve our world and the conditions of human life.

Description of the workplace

Lund University's Humanities Laboratory (www.humlab.lu.se (https://www.humlab.lu.se)) is a university-wide platform for research infrastructure that supports the study of human behavior within cognition, communication, and culture. By offering free access to advanced equipment, methodological support, and training, the Lab enables researchers to collect data, perform analysis, and develop methods. The operation is interdisciplinary and open to researchers from many different fields, serving as a meeting place between academia and society. The Lab's current facilities have enabled innovative research in many areas, but demand is increasingly for mobile solutions. Researchers want to study people and environments in their natural contexts – such as homes, schools, workplaces, and field environments. To meet this need, the research infrastructure must become more flexible and portable, so that it can be taken to the research subject rather than the other way around.

As part of a recently awarded RJ grant called GoLab, the Humanities Laboratory needs to recruit new competence to support a push towards more mobile, "on-the-go" data collection, which is in demand by an increasing number of users. The Humanities Laboratory needs to recruit a Research Engineer with a background in computer vision and machine learning to support hardware installation and the development of analysis tools for mobile eye tracking. Read more about the Lab's eye tracking facilities here: https://www.humlab.lu.se/equipment-expertise/eye-tracking/ (https://www.humlab.lu.se/equipment-expertise/eye-tracking/)

The Humanities Laboratory is organizationally placed within the Faculty of Humanities and Theology and has offices and experimental studios located on the HT campus; the Language and Literature Centre (SOL) and LUX. The Lab has approximately 25 employees and is an international environment with several guest researchers each semester.
