Specialist Physician in Neurology with a focus on Movement Disorders at VO Neurology, Danderyd Hospital

We are looking for you who are passionate about neurology and want to help further develop neurological care at Danderyd Hospital! The neurological operations at DS have expanded rapidly, and we conduct extensive activities within emergency care, inpatient care in various forms, and day care. We have a large outpatient activity.

We are looking for you with competence, engagement, and interest in patients with movement disorders, particularly Parkinson's disease. Here, you will have the opportunity to engage in both neurological specialization and breadth.

Danderyd Hospital is one of the country's largest emergency hospitals, and the influx of patients with neurological symptoms is significant. DS is a large hospital with the atmosphere and well-being of a small hospital, where operations are characterized by short contact and decision-making paths. VO Neurology includes the Neurology Clinic and the Speech Therapy Clinic. The Neurology Clinic currently has three inpatient wards, the monitoring unit NAVE, and a care unit with combined week care and day care activities (NADVA). We have extensive neurological outpatient activities and have intensified work on patient and care unit processes for improved patient flows. Since 2021, we have been our own USV unit (University Hospital Care Unit), participate in the education of various professions, and have a professorship in neurology at DS. We have a strong commitment to clinical research, teaching, and development (R&D) in collaboration with Karolinska Institutet Danderyd Hospital (KIDS, Department of Clinical Sciences). We collaborate with the Department of Clinical Neuroscience, KI, regarding medical education in neurology.

Job Description

The Neurology Clinic within VO Neurology is currently staffed with 27 permanent neurology specialists in addition to the operations manager (3 of the specialists are double specialists in neurology/internal medicine), 4 internal medicine specialists, and 19 ST (specialization training) doctors in neurology. Some of these will become finished specialists in the coming year. We also have several senior hourly paid doctor colleagues and several substitute junior doctors, both before and after AT (basic internship).

We offer varied work that includes emergency and elective outpatient care, consultation activities, and emergency inpatient care, as well as teaching and supervision of, among others, medical students, AT, and ST doctors. We offer team-based and process-oriented care for stroke, MS, movement disorders, epilepsy, and headache. The position includes administrative tasks, on-call duties, and participation in supervision and education.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who are a specialist in neurology with special competence in movement disorders. You can be early or later in your career as a neurology specialist, but you have the competence and ability to work independently with our patient group. You should have an interest in all forms of emergency neurology, teaching, and development work. You want to work and develop in an stimulating environment with a strong patient focus. Research experience and/or interest in research is meritorious.
