Do you want to work practically, with variety and outdoors in a role where what you do really makes a difference? SweMaint in Luleå is growing and is now looking for a repair technician to join their team. Here you will work with maintenance and repair of freight wagons in a family-like and skilled work group where everyone helps each other, develops together, and takes great responsibility for an important societal flow.
About the role
As a freight wagon repair technician at SweMaint, you work with maintenance and repair of railway wagons for freight traffic. The work is largely mobile, involving a truck, but also partly in the workshop, and you carry out tasks both independently and together with colleagues.
Your tasks include fault finding, wheel changes, brake changes, and replacement of other mechanical components. The role is practical, varied, and involves working outdoors year-round, meaning you need to enjoy active work in different environments and weather conditions.
You will be based at SweMaint's operations in Luleå, where the team currently consists of 6 employees. Working hours are Monday to Friday, 07:00–15:30.
Who are you?
We are looking for someone who is handy, curious, and has an interest in mechanics. Perhaps you have worked as a repair technician, mechanic, service technician, assembler, or in other practical roles – or you are someone who enjoys tinkering in your spare time and wants to develop in a new area.
Previous experience from the railway industry is an advantage, but not a requirement. The most important thing is that you have the right attitude, want to learn, and enjoy taking responsibility. Any knowledge you may lack can be built upon through both practical and theoretical training during your employment.
To thrive and succeed in the role, we believe you:
- have a strong safety mindset
- are practical and enjoy problem-solving
- enjoy working outdoors year-round
- have good teamwork skills and like working together with colleagues
- have good physical fitness, as the work may involve heavy tasks
- are self-reliant and take responsibility for your tasks
- are familiar with handling digital systems, such as computers, iPads, and email
A B-class driver's license is required. Very good Swedish skills in both speech and writing are required, as documentation and instructions are in Swedish. You also need to be able to handle numbers in your work.
It is an advantage if you have a C-class driver's license, a C2 forklift license for wheel loaders, certification for vehicle-mounted cranes, or experience with year-round outdoor work. If you lack any of these qualifications, SweMaint can offer training depending on needs.
To work at SweMaint, you must also meet the health requirements applicable for work in rail areas.
What we offer
At SweMaint, you get a secure permanent employment in a company that invests in its employees. You will receive training in areas such as freight wagon maintenance, track work, braking systems, and other relevant areas needed to feel confident in the role.
Here you are offered varied work with freedom under responsibility, where you get to be self-reliant but also part of a close and helpful team. SweMaint has a flat organization and a family-like atmosphere, both locally in Luleå and in the company as a whole. Employees describe receiving appreciation, both internally and from customers, and that the work they do really makes a difference.
SweMaint also offers benefits such as a wellness allowance of 5,000 SEK, a company bike, half-day meal allowance for outdoor work, and a lifetime benefit that can be taken as reduced working hours or pension savings.
The position is full-time with start date by agreement, preferably around mid-September.
