Stockholm – our capital city filled with millions of dreams, expectations, and ambitions. We work for everyone who lives here today and in the future. We are now looking for you who want to think big, new, and different with us – for the people of Stockholm.
Welcome to us
We are currently seeking an engaged Family Support Consultant (Anhörigkonsulent) for the Department for Elderly Care, Disability, and Social Psychiatry, as one of our consultants is moving on to another assignment within the unit. The family support is based on Stockholm City's program for support to relatives and is directed at people who support, help, or care for a close relative. You can read more about the program and family support on Stockholm City's website.
You will be part of the department's development unit. The unit consists of two Family Support Consultant positions as well as the functions of personal guardian, investigator, and umbrella coordinator. Together, you will work to develop and strengthen the unit's support for the municipality's residents. The department is responsible for both regulatory authority and in-house operations within elderly care (65+), disability services, and social psychiatry. This also includes overarching support functions such as the medically responsible nurse (MAS) and the medically responsible person for rehabilitation (MAR).
What we offer
With us, you will have a varied and developmental job where you have good opportunities for competence development through education, lectures, and close collegial learning. You will collaborate with experienced colleagues both within your own administration and in external networks.
We also offer flexible working hours, fitness allowances, and the opportunity to take advantage of favorable offers from several gym chains and swimming pools. Please read more about our benefits here.
Your role
As a Family Support Consultant, you are responsible for the overall planning of family support within the department's areas of operation. You offer advice and guidance, individual conversations, and plan and carry out targeted support measures, such as family groups, training, lectures, networks, and conferences. You play an important role in spreading information about family support and work actively with outreach activities. In this role, you meet people with different linguistic and cultural backgrounds. As a Family Support Consultant, you are bound by confidentiality, which is an important prerequisite for creating security and trust in meetings with relatives.
You will be part of the city's network for Family Support Consultants, and in some activities, you will collaborate across city districts. Other partners include procurement units, service providers, interest organizations, healthcare, voluntary organizations, etc.
Your competence and experience
We are looking for someone who has:
- A degree in social work or another higher education qualification that we consider equivalent.
- Experience working within elderly care, services for people with disabilities, or social psychiatry.
- Documented experience working with people who, for various reasons, find themselves in a vulnerable or stressful life situation.
It is meritorious if you have:
- Experience in family support or from work within other similar operations within the social services' area of responsibility.
- Experience working as a case manager (biståndshandläggare).
- Experience with the social services' different areas of operation.
- Good knowledge of other languages, such as Somali, Arabic, and Tigrinya.
- Experience working in a multicultural area.
As a Family Support Consultant, you need to be self-reliant and structured, while also having the ability to be flexible when the situation requires it. You build good relationships with relatives, their loved ones, colleagues, and other partners. We are looking for someone with a genuine interest in working with support for people in vulnerable life situations and who is engaged by issues concerning family support and the living conditions of relatives. You are service-oriented, have good initiative, and enjoy working independently. You also have a development-oriented approach to work and actively contribute to achieving jointly set goals.
We place great emphasis on personal qualities, motivation, and commitment to the position.
