Försvarshälsan (Defence Health) is the Swedish Armed Forces' internal occupational health service and is located in all garrison towns in the country. We are a resource for both the employer, the employee, as well as conscripts and cadets. Our commitment is focused on health-promoting, preventive, curative, and rehabilitative measures aimed at promoting good health as well as a good physical, mental, organizational, and social work environment.

At Försvarshälsan, we work together in teams consisting of doctors, nurses, physiotherapists, psychologists, health educators, occupational health and safety engineers, and medical secretaries. Försvarshälsan at the Life Guards is located in three different geographical locations: in Kungsängen northwest of Stockholm, in central Stockholm, and at the Military High School Karlberg in Solna.

Main Responsibilities

The tasks are varied both from a medical perspective and from the military context in which we operate. The work consists largely of reception duties for conscripts undergoing their basic military training at the Life Guards, as well as examinations of employees prior to international service. As a nurse, you will sometimes accompany our conscripts into the field during various training exercises and military drills. Administration, ordering, and maintaining order at the reception are natural parts of the job.

Our mission also includes providing support, advice, and training at both individual and group levels for both conscripts and employed personnel.

As a nurse at Försvarshälsan, you are part of a cross-professional work team and will collaborate closely with doctors, psychologists, health educators, physiotherapists, occupational health and safety engineers, and medical secretaries. Teamwork permeates our approach in daily operations.

Qualifications

  • Licensed nurse with relevant specialist competence
  • Extensive professional experience as a nurse
  • Category B driver's license

Other Information

Employment type: Permanent. The Swedish Armed Forces apply a six-month probationary period for those not already employed by the agency.

Workload: Full-time, 40 hours/week Monday-Friday daytime, with flexible working hours agreement.

Work location: Kungsängen

Position: Civilian

Start date: ASAP or as agreed. The duty is primarily based at our reception at Försvarshälsan in Kungsängen. Duty at our other receptions may occur as needed, and you are a resource for the entire unit. Evening and weekend duties may occur in connection with, for example, military exercises.

Personnel in the Swedish Armed Forces have the opportunity for physical training during work hours up to three hours/week according to agreement.

The Life Guards is one of the largest units in the Swedish Armed Forces, with origins dating back to 1521. We train tomorrow's soldiers, as well as military police and personnel who will carry out international missions. We guard the royal castles, we have security and ground combat units. We are also responsible for preserving and developing Swedish military music tradition. Our headquarters are in Kungsängen outside Stockholm, but we are also located in Sollentuna, central Stockholm, Uppsala, Gothenburg, and Karlskrona. An employment with us involves placement in a security class. Swedish citizenship is usually required.
