On the neonatal unit, we work in modern facilities where children and parents receive joint care. We collaborate closely with the maternity ward and newborn unit. Furthermore, we hold the county-wide responsibility for the care of all sick or premature newborns in Dalarna. We provide intensive care and intermediate care across the unit's 12 beds, as well as outpatient services. Together, we offer high-quality care for all birthing families in Dalarna. The position is a fixed-term assignment from 2026-08-17 to 2027-03-31.

You will work in a team consisting of nurses, doctors, social workers, dietitians, and physiotherapists. You will collaborate closely with the nurse responsible for nursing care, where child- and family-centered developmental support care is fundamental.

As a childcare assistant/nursing assistant, you play a key role by:

• being observant of changes in the child's condition
• supporting the child's development
• supporting parents in the bonding process and getting to know their child
• supporting the breastfeeding process

The work is varied and requires good adaptability. The department has a well-functioning internal training program, and you will be offered tailored onboarding. You must be able to work days, evenings, nights, and weekends.

The neonatal unit is part of the Pediatric and Adolescent Medicine Clinic, where we support each other across unit boundaries. After appropriate onboarding, some work may also take place on the pediatric ward for older children.

We are looking for you who:

• are trained as a nursing assistant (undersköterska) having completed the Care and Nursing Program or the vocational package Care and Nursing at adult education
• have advanced studies in emergency care and medicine 2 (from the former Care and Nursing Program)
• hold a Diploma from the Care and Nursing College

The following are considered meritorious:

• you have supplementary education focusing on newborns and sick children, as well as specialist training in pediatric care
• you have previous experience in neonatal, pediatric, or intensive care

Personal qualities and suitability are highly valued. You possess stability, maturity, and a personality that enables you to work in stressful and acute situations and to support parents in crisis. You are flexible, detail-oriented, and have strong social skills. You also have an interest and ability to handle medical technical equipment. You should have an interest in developing neonatal care.
