Lövsta Agricultural Research

We are looking for you who want to work as a temporary stable technician in the pig stable at Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU), Lövsta Agricultural Research, outside Uppsala. We are nearly thirty employees in the team at Lövsta, 6 employees work in the pig stable where the pig herd comprises approx. 100 sows with integrated production and half work with the dairy cow herd of 300 cows with rearing. The stables are highly mechanized. The activity carries out about 20 research projects annually and receives a couple of thousand SLU students.

About the job

The tasks are the usual ones in a commercial integrated pig herd, with care of sows, piglets and slaughter pigs, interspersed with tasks related to research activities and as support in teaching. The work is scheduled with weekend and on-call work.

Your background

You should have practical experience of working with agricultural animals, theoretical knowledge is meritorious. We place great importance on personal qualities such as teamwork, independence as well as initiative and organizational skills. You should be interested in working with researchers and students. A B driving license is a requirement. Experience of driving a loader is meritorious.

Lövsta Agricultural Research at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences is one of Europe's most modern facilities for research and teaching on agricultural animals. The stables house extensive production with pigs, dairy cows and poultry. The stables are used daily by students and researchers at SLU.
