Uppsala Vocational Gymnasium Jälla is a high school offering the Construction and Civil Engineering program, Electrical and Energy program, Plumbing and Property program, Natural Resource program, and Vehicle and Transport program. Additionally, the school offers introduction programs, Adapted Upper Secondary School, and adult education. The school has approximately 700 students and is located about 6 km from Uppsala's city center with good bus connections.

Description of Duties

In this role, you will work as an instructor with our companion animals in the animal house at Uppsala Vocational Gymnasium Jälla. You will collaborate closely with vocational teachers in companion animal subjects. The role involves guiding students in animal care, handling, and practical tasks. The position includes responsibility for the animal house, which entails daily animal care as well as planning and purchasing.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who are trained as an animal technician level A (FELASA) or equivalent. You hold a pet shop certificate and have good computer skills. Good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written, is a prerequisite for the position.

Practical experience in handling and caring for the most common companion animal species, as well as broad competence in animal care, is meritorious. It is also meritorious if you are trained as an animal nurse (DSS) and have completed the Swedish National Agency for Education's instructor training. We would appreciate it if you have a strong desire to learn about other animal species within each animal class (mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians, and fish).

You collaborate well with others and relate to your surroundings in a listening and flexible manner. You listen, communicate, and resolve conflicts constructively. You have a good understanding that students have different prerequisites for absorbing knowledge. In your teaching, you adapt your message to the audience. In times of change, you easily adapt to changed circumstances and can quickly change your perspective and approach. In your work, you plan, organize, and prioritize your tasks efficiently, while adhering to set timeframes.

Uppsala Municipality applies individual and differentiated salary setting according to the current collective agreement.
