About the position

This position involves two main tasks.

The primary task is to teach veterinary students in bacteriology within the course Infectious Biology. The teaching consists mainly of lectures in classrooms. The second main task is to conduct molecular biological research and vaccine development in bacteriology, focusing on Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus suis, Streptococcus equi, and Streptococcus zooepidemicus. The main purpose is to develop new recombinant vaccines in close collaboration with a Swedish veterinary medical company.

Your background

You must hold a doctoral degree and have docent qualifications in bacteriology, as well as a genuine interest in the subject and teaching. The successful candidate should have extensive experience in teaching and research and development work within the aforementioned research areas. Previous experience in the identification and characterization of extracellular proteins from pathogenic streptococci/staphylococci is particularly advantageous.

Location:

Uppsala

Employment type:

Hourly paid employment; special fixed-term employment.

This means that you will be offered work during shorter periods within the timeframe specified below under "Scope". You can accept or decline each work opportunity offered. When you accept one or more work opportunities, a new employment contract is established for those occasions.

Scope:

The employment covers approximately 200 hours during the period August 1, 2026 to June 30, 2027.

The work will involve approximately 10 hours of work per week.
