The Swedish Fortifications Administration is seeking an experienced HVAC technician for the operations unit at the Naval Base in Karlskrona. Here you will work in a technically diverse and socially critical environment where your skills directly impact the functionality, operation, and safety of the facility.

The operations unit is responsible for the management and technical operation of the Naval Base's property portfolio in Karlskrona. The operations cover a large number of buildings with varying ages and technical standards, where a significant portion is security classified (SBM marked). This places high demands on a structured work approach and precision in daily work.

The buildings consist largely of older installations where modern technology has been integrated over time. This means a varied operating environment where you work with both older and modern HVAC systems in buildings and facilities.

In addition to the buildings, the operations are also responsible for the operation and maintenance of harbor facilities, which are continuously developed and where new technical systems are gradually put into operation and integrated into the operations.

The organization consists of approximately 20 employees and is responsible for ensuring stable, safe, and functional operation of both buildings and harbor infrastructure.

Responsibilities

The work includes service, fault reporting, and troubleshooting within building-technical HVAC systems. The focus is on operation, maintenance, and measures related to, for example, cooling and heating, ventilation, circulation pumps, and dehumidification units.

A central part of the role is to quickly identify and rectify faults to ensure stable operation and functionality in the facility. The work includes both emergency interventions and planned maintenance.

You also participate in smaller projects together with other professional groups such as electricians and carpenters, where collaboration is a natural part of the work. As needed, you participate in the development, renovation, and adaptation of buildings and technical installations.

The role involves responsibility for supervision and maintenance within assigned areas/buildings as well as an independent work approach with a focus on operational safety and functionality. On-call duty may be included in the employment.

Requirements

  • Extensive experience as an HVAC technician/plumber.
  • Relevant vocational education in HVAC or equivalent practical experience assessed as comparable.
  • Documented experience in service, fault reporting, and troubleshooting within building-technical systems.
  • Practical experience working with HVAC installations in buildings and facilities, for example, in cooling and heating, ventilation.
  • Good knowledge of Swedish in speech and writing, as well as a B driver's license, are required.
  • It is meritorious if you have experience as a facility caretaker for fire alarms, knowledge in control and regulation technology, and experience with soldering and welding.

Personal Qualities

A practical and solution-oriented work approach is important to thrive in the role, where quick assessments and actions are often required in a varied operating environment.

A creative approach is an asset when troubleshooting in older or more complex installations, where alternative solutions sometimes need to be identified to restore functionality.

The work is characterized by a clear solution focus with the ability to prioritize and act quickly when faults arise to minimize disruptions in buildings and facilities.

Stability and calm under pressure are an important part of the role. Focus can be maintained even during emergency operational disruptions or when multiple tasks need to be handled simultaneously, contributing to a structured and professional work approach.
