Job Responsibilities

We are looking for a cook for the Hessegården kitchen, which is one of four kitchens serving lunch and dinner to the municipality's special housing for the elderly.

In the kitchen, you usually work alone, collaborating with a colleague 2 days a week. Therefore, you are mostly responsible for the daily operations and for creating a pleasant and professional meal service.

You work on a rotating schedule with work every other weekend; public holidays may also occur.

Our goal is to serve Sweden's friendliest meals. This means that we not only prepare tasty and nutritious food but also create a positive dining experience in an environment characterized by culinary joy, a sense of service, and sustainability.

We place great emphasis on being a service unit for our customers within care services and our diners.

The food should be nutritious, safe, tasty, and inviting for a pleasant dining experience that enhances the quality of life for our elderly residents.

For this position, in addition to a great interest in cooking, you must have good knowledge of special diets, consistency-adapted food, and modified diets.

You work with service, which means finding solutions to challenges in collaboration with your colleagues in the kitchen and care services.

You are attentive to the diners and use your knowledge and creativity to develop meals in line with what our diners want and what the operations can offer.

You must be accustomed to working in a structured and solution-focused manner.

You follow the organization's guidelines and set goals, participate in holiday planning, and are loyal to decisions made within the organization.

We work in several different operational systems, so you need to be comfortable working with computers, and we would appreciate it if you have prior experience with our systems.

In addition to cooking, all kitchen staff perform common tasks such as dishwashing, cleaning, and ordering food supplies.

Qualifications

Basic requirements for the position:

  • We are looking for you who have a high school diploma in food technology, large-scale kitchen operations, hotel and restaurant education, or other education that the employer deems equivalent and relevant for the position.
  • Two years of experience working as a cook.
  • Hygiene training/HAACP or equivalent knowledge.
  • Education and knowledge in special diets and modified diets.
  • Very good oral and written skills in Swedish.

Personal qualities:

  • Flexible and stress-resistant to quickly shift focus in daily life, reprioritize when necessary, and solve problems that arise.
  • You need to have structure in your work, value order and cleanliness, be involved/responsible for planning the day, and stay ahead in planning for yourself or others.
  • You should be able to collaborate with colleagues and customers as you are a vital cog in our daily operations, while maintaining a professional attitude towards Borlänge residents, colleagues, and management, and engaging in good dialogue during changes that affect their operations.
  • Service-oriented with good customer handling skills.

Meritorious qualifications:

  • Computer skills and a Category B driver's license.

Salary: Monthly salary.
Employment type: Permanent employment.
Duration: Permanent, start date: 2026-09-01.
