VA Nordic is an expanding group within water and wastewater technology, with approximately 250 employees and a turnover of 900 MSEK. The significant investment needs within Swedish water and wastewater infrastructure create a strong long-term market, meaning we have many interesting projects ahead of us. We are a culture-driven company with high technical competence and a strong focus on process support. Now, we are taking the next step in our journey and are looking for a business-driven and analytical Cost Estimation Manager who wants to lead our team and develop with us.

About the role

Here you get the chance to step into a key role where you combine operational work with strategic leadership. You are employed by VA Nordic and work with the group's subsidiaries, where you are responsible for developing and strengthening the cost estimation work in the operations. As Cost Estimation Manager, you are responsible not only for the bidding phase, but you hold the whole picture together – from when we calculate the job to when we follow up on profitability and learn from the outcome.

You lead a team consisting of both cost estimators and construction engineers. You are a "working manager", which means you are involved in the daily calculations, while simultaneously bearing the responsibility to look up, develop our working methods, and ensure that the group functions optimally.

You don't need to be able to dig the trench yourself – the technical expertise lies with our site managers, whom you work closely with. Your strength should be understanding the calculation, the logic behind the business, and how we maximize profitability.

Examples of tasks

• Strategic analysis: Follow up on bid statistics, analyze competitors' pricing, and evaluate our hit rate to optimize our strategy.
• Operational cost estimation: Independently drive and calculate bid projects and act as a "player-coach".
• Process development: Drive the work on how we calculate, follow up on projects, and perform post-calculations.
• Support production: Be a sounding board for site managers regarding economics and contract issues during the projects.
• Market: Environmental scanning and strategic positioning of our bids.

We are looking for you who

• Have experience as a cost estimation manager or currently work as a senior cost estimator, construction engineer, or project manager and are ready to take the next step into a leadership role.
• Personnel or team responsibility is an advantage.
• Have analytical depth – you understand the importance of key figures, statistics, and follow-up.
• Are structured and business-minded – you see the whole picture in the business and are driven by profitability.
• Have experience with costing systems such as MAP or Bidcon.
• Have a background in earthworks, infrastructure, water/wastewater, or construction.
• Have good knowledge of construction law, e.g., AMA, MER, LUF, and LOU.
• Have good computer skills and proficiency in Excel.
• Fluent in Swedish, both spoken and written, and hold a valid driver's license (Category B).
