Do you want a role where your work truly makes a difference? Here, you become an important part of an international knowledge environment where you support cutting-edge research and education. You will enjoy secure conditions, generous benefits, and excellent opportunities for professional development, all while contributing to something greater.
Luleå University of Technology (LTU) is implementing a strategic initiative in artificial intelligence (AI) with the goal of strengthening education and research through the use of AI. As part of this initiative, ten assistant positions (amanuenses) are being offered, distributed across the university's departments (two per department). The work is coordinated centrally within LTU's AI initiative and takes place in close collaboration with other assistants and the Rector's AI advisor, Marcus Liwicki. In the role of assistant, you will contribute to the development of education and research-related activities connected to AI. You will have the opportunity to work in a dynamic academic environment closely linked to current research, as well as collaborating with industry and society. In the role of assistant, you will contribute to supporting and strengthening the use of AI within education, research, and administrative support at the university. The work is carried out in close collaboration with the university's departments, teachers, researchers, and administrative staff.
Your responsibilities include participating in and contributing to workshops, seminars, and discussions regarding the use of AI in education, research, and administrative processes. You will collaborate with key personnel at the department, such as Head of Education (HUL), teachers, researchers, and managers within administrative support, to identify needs and opportunities related to AI. The work also involves mapping and disseminating good examples of AI usage within the university, as well as contributing to the planning and implementation of activities that strengthen AI competence at the department. The role also includes contributing to documentation, experience sharing, and reporting on implemented activities.
You will also support the department's participation in the university's joint AI initiatives. This includes, among other things, involvement in the planning and implementation of LTU AI Day, which will be held on November 3–4, 2026.
Qualifications and Experience
You must be admitted to a degree program at Luleå University of Technology in computer science, artificial intelligence, or a related field, such as Applied AI, Computer Science, or Civil Engineering in Computer Science. You should be able to demonstrate good academic results in relevant areas such as computer science, artificial intelligence, or machine learning, and have completed courses with a clear connection to AI.
Experience with generative AI, large language models (LLMs), AI agents, or related technologies is considered an asset. Experience in programming, for example in Python, as well as knowledge of relevant tools and frameworks, is also desirable. Furthermore, experience in project work, student engagement, or work with knowledge dissemination and educational initiatives is viewed positively.
To succeed in the role, you are proactive, responsible, and have good collaboration skills. You enjoy communicating with different target groups, work independently, and actively contribute to the development of the organization.
