Department 18 is a general psychiatric inpatient unit belonging to the Psychiatry Northwest clinic. The department's main focus is on depression, anxiety, and personality disorders, but we also treat patients with other psychiatric difficulties. We have 16 beds and admit patients aged 18 to 65. The department is centrally located on Kungsholmen with good access to public transport.

On our department, we place great emphasis on working environment and patient safety. We enjoy our work and operate in a flexible, solution-oriented team with a positive atmosphere. We know this creates a better existence for our patients. We combine this with a clear structure and daily routines to provide security for both staff and patients. Anna Björkdahl's Bergen Model forms the successful foundation of our approach, where respectful interaction and low-arousal strategies are key to secure and meaningful inpatient care.

The department has a positive and experienced staff group with good staffing levels of both nurses and nursing assistants. We actively work with competence development and implementation projects. This is to develop and offer our patients the best possible care, as well as to strengthen your development in your role as a nurse in a psychiatric department. During your employment, you will be offered ongoing training, both mandatory and based on your own preferences.

The department works with Patient Forum, where patient feedback on care is valued every week. Many of our improvements are based on ideas and feedback from our patients. We work according to the model "One Conversation a Day" and also have "The Calm Room," which, with its relaxing and sensory-stimulating environment, has become an integral part of our patients' anxiety management and sleep prevention. In autumn 2023, the Self-Selected Admission (SSA) method was implemented on the department, and in spring 2024, we started a project offering our patients CBT-oriented conversations as part of the treatment. Patient participation in their care is an important part of our way of working.

We use Take Care as our electronic health record system. The job responsibilities also include supportive conversations with patients, as well as contact and coordination with other healthcare providers, the municipality, and relatives.
