We are looking for an experienced Signal Designer to join the team behind Norrbotniabanan, one of Sweden's largest infrastructure projects, in collaboration with Trafikverket (The Swedish Transport Administration).

About the assignment

This is a full-time consulting assignment with a base location in Umeå, Skellefteå, or Luleå. The role involves close collaboration with the client, requiring high flexibility and strong teamwork skills.

Norrbotniabanan involves the construction of a new 270 km single-track railway between Umeå and Luleå. The project consists of several sub-projects with approximately 200 people in the client organization. You will become an integrated part of Trafikverket's project organization and work in close cooperation with the project management.

Your main tasks will focus on signal design for the Umeå–Skellefteå section, including measures along the Skellefteå line. The assignment may also include support for other parts of Norrbotniabanan and knowledge transfer to Trafikverket employees.

Your responsibilities

• Design signal measures for System H and Switch Machine 59 (Ställverk 59) on the Skellefteå line.
• Prepare construction documents for the new railway between Umeå and Skellefteå using ERTMS.
• Create drawings, technical descriptions, and bills of quantities for execution contracts.
• Perform internal reviews, self-checks, and provide construction support when needed.
• Compile and update construction-control documentation and identify changes from ongoing earthwork contracts.

Location and Equipment

Base location is Umeå, Skellefteå, or Luleå. Physical presence at Trafikverket's office in Umeå is required approximately once per month.

• You must have access to an AMA Premium license as well as your own software and hardware for CAD design.
• Travel within the assignment occurs, primarily to Umeå approximately once per month.

Your qualifications (Mandatory requirements)

• Fluent Swedish in both speech and writing.
• At least 4 years of experience as a signal designer on railway facilities covered by technical regulations for signal technology.
• Experience with at least two design projects of conventional relay line block systems within the last 10 years (verified via reference assignments).
• Experience with at least one design project as lead designer for new Switch Machine 59 (Ställverk 59) within the last 10 years (verified via reference assignments).

Meritorious qualifications

• Experience as a signal inspection engineer in at least two assignments.
• Experience as a SISÄ controller in at least two projects.
