Through the initiative Jobs for Youth 2026, we offer youth jobs within several of the municipality's operations. Here, you will have the opportunity to get to know working life, develop new skills, and contribute your enthusiasm to operations that make a difference for people every day.

YOUR ROLE

As a youth trainee, you will become part of one of Skellefteå Municipality's operations for a fixed period. Where you work and what tasks you are assigned depend on the needs of the operation, but regardless of placement, you will become an important part of the team.

You might, for example, support colleagues in their daily work, help out with activities and events, or contribute with administrative and practical tasks. What all placements have in common is that you will have the opportunity to learn new things, collaborate with others, and develop in a real working environment.

We hope to offer placements in areas such as schools and education, social services, as well as culture and leisure activities. When you start, you will receive an introduction to the workplace and support from a supervisor who will help you settle into the role and develop professionally.

YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

You do not need prior work experience. What matters most to us is that you are curious and want to take the chance to develop through your first or one of your first jobs. We believe you will thrive with us if you have a positive attitude, enjoy collaborating with others, and take responsibility for the tasks you are given. YOUR NEW WORKPLACE

Skellefteå Municipality is one of the region's largest employers with operations in areas such as schools, care, social work, culture, leisure, and public services. GOOD TO KNOW

This youth job is part of the Jobs for Youth 2026 initiative and can be applied for by you if you:

• graduated from high school in 2025 or 2026, or
• are covered by the municipality's activity responsibility (KAA).

Employment type: Fixed-term employment
Duration: 3–6 months (September 1 – December 31, 2026)
Number of positions: 14
Salary: 21,300 SEK per month before tax

Instead of a cover letter, you will answer some selection questions where you tell us about yourself, your experiences, and what you want to develop through the youth job. You will also indicate which operations interest you the most. The selection is made based on your answers and the needs of the operations.

Depending on which operation you are offered a placement in, you may need to present a current extract from your criminal record before a potential employment. This may apply to work in schools, preschools, or operations that provide support to elderly persons or persons with disabilities. If this becomes relevant, you are responsible for ordering the correct extract from the Swedish Police Authority.
