Description

Water Case Officer within water management, temporary position. Start date: ASAP.

The Environmental and Water Unit at the County Administrative Board works with environmental issues within a broad area of responsibility, aiming for national environmental quality objectives. Through supervision and participation in permit assessments, as well as supervisory guidance and preventive advice to operators in the county, we work for a good environment on Gotland.

The County Administrative Board is looking for a Water Case Officer for a temporary position placed in the Environmental and Water Unit, which consists of 23 employees.

Responsibilities

You will be part of the County Administrative Board's preparatory secretariat, and your main tasks will be related to the Board's assignments within water management. You will be responsible for work concerning groundwater and environmental toxins.

In the work with water management, you will conduct a detailed mapping and risk assessment of the county's groundwater bodies, as well as status classification and risk assessment of environmental toxins in the county's surface water bodies. This work is carried out with support from national networks and places high demands on your ability to work independently and adhere to set timeframes. You will also be responsible for regional environmental monitoring of groundwater and the County Administrative Board's work regarding the environmental quality objective of good quality groundwater.

Other tasks may include handling permit or supervision cases, consultations, and internal statements regarding urban planning issues related to water.

Qualifications

You have an academic degree with a focus on natural sciences or equivalent, preferably with a focus on environment/water/chemistry. You are expected to have work experience in water management and environmental quality standards. Work experience in handling water activities or environmentally hazardous operations is also a requirement. Good knowledge of hydrogeology is meritorious. Since geographical information is handled in the County Administrative Board's work, experience with GIS is meritorious.

You are a proactive person with the ability to achieve results according to set goals and have good communication skills in both speech and writing. You should also have an understanding of the context in which the County Administrative Board operates. A significant part of the position involves collaboration in both internal and external contexts, which requires good communication and cooperation skills. Personal suitability is given great importance.
