The Workplace

The Building and Environmental Office consists of three environmental inspectors, one food inspector, two building inspectors, and the Head of Building and Environment. The office is part of the Community Planning sector.

As an Environmental Inspector, you are offered a varied role. You will work with many aspects of the Environmental Code, from supervision and permitting to information and advisory services. This means a lovely mix of fieldwork and office work. We are a close-knit team that works closely together and enjoys our work!

The Role and Responsibilities

The responsibilities will primarily focus on work according to the Environmental Code. Areas related to other legislation may also occur.

The work includes everything from supervision and permitting to information and advisory services. You will process incoming cases of various kinds, plan and conduct inspection visits, and draft decisions, correspondence, and official reports. You set requirements and make decisions in your role as a public authority. The work involves significant personal responsibility and initiative.

Your assignment also includes preventive work in the form of, among other things, informative and collaborative tasks, both externally and internally. Contact with the public, businesses, and other authorities is a large part of the daily work, so it is important that you have good communication skills and can express yourself clearly in both speech and writing.

The Environmental Office works closely together, and we naturally help each other when needed. You will be involved in developing the activities of the Building and Environmental Office, creating routines, and working methods.

Your Profile

The requirement for you to work as an Environmental Inspector is that you have an academic degree related to the position, which the employer assesses as relevant for the assignment.

You are computer literate and have ease in expressing yourself in both speech and writing.

A valid B-driver's license is required.

It is meritorious if you have education or work experience within administration, relevant work experience in the field, and experience working with the business system EDP-Vision.

Personal qualities and skills important for succeeding in the role are that you are/have:

• Independent and stable: Once you are settled in the job, it is important that you can work independently, make decisions, and handle situations where there are often many balls in the air.
• Good teamwork skills: Ability to work in a group, adapt to the group, listen, learn, teach, and convey your thoughts and ideas. We are a close-knit team collaborating in a small municipality.
• Problem-solving analytical ability: You can quickly familiarize yourself with complex environmental issues, find the root cause of problems, and see solutions that work both according to the law and in the practical daily life of the business.
