Case Officer for Contaminated Sites

Permanent position with a 6-month probation period. Possibility of remote work exists.

The Environmental and Water Unit at the County Administrative Board works with environmental issues within a broad scope and against established regional environmental goals. Through permit assessments, supervision, and preventive advice to businesses in the county, we work for a good environment on Gotland.

The County Administrative Board is seeking a Case Officer for Contaminated Sites. You will belong to the Environmental and Water Unit, which consists of 23 employees.

Responsibilities

You will work with some of the county's highest priority contaminated sites and, together with your colleagues, ensure that these areas are investigated and, if necessary, remediated so that they no longer pose a risk to human health and the environment.

The responsibilities include working with supervision, inventory, supervisory guidance, and grant management within contaminated sites. Risk classification and inventory according to the MIFO methodology for potentially contaminated sites are part of the work. There are good opportunities for competence development. Depending on background and competence, there may be an opportunity for coordination responsibility within the subject area. The extent of remote work can be discussed depending on which tasks become relevant.

We strive for a flexible organization with the aim of being able to handle new assignments or directions from the national level. Therefore, your tasks may change based on new needs.

Qualifications

You have an academic degree with a focus on the environmental field. You have work experience in working with contaminated sites and environmental legislation. Other relevant knowledge includes geology, environmental chemistry, hydrology, and remediation work such as environmental technical soil investigations and risk assessments. Experience in supervision within the environmental field is meritorious. Part of the County Administrative Board's work involves handling databases and working with maps. Much of this is done digitally, so we would appreciate it if you could use GIS tools and are accustomed to working with administrative, digital systems where large amounts of data are handled.

You are an initiative-taking and driven person with the ability to achieve results according to set goals and have an easy way of expressing yourself in speech and writing. You are pedagogical, flexible, and have an easy time collaborating. Great importance is placed on personal suitability. You should also have an understanding of the context in which the County Administrative Board operates and is therefore receptive and communicative. A B-class driver's license is a prerequisite.

Since the position is classified as security-sensitive, a standard background check will be conducted upon employment. The position requires you to be a Swedish citizen, but you are welcome to have a foreign background.

The County Administrative Board has coordination responsibility for both crisis preparedness and total defense in the county. This means that as an employee, you may be included in the crisis management organization and may be assigned to wartime duties.
