Description

The Ingesund University College of Music (MHI) is part of the Department of Artistic Studies at Karlstad University and serves as the university's second campus in Arvika. MHI is a well-respected institution with strong student recruitment. Here, subject teacher degrees in music are offered, with a focus on upper secondary school, aiming to train artistic educators qualified for upper secondary schools, compulsory schools, as well as music and cultural schools. MHI now also has the authority to award artistic degrees at both bachelor's and master's levels.

We are now looking for student assistants to staff our student center at MHI. You will be the face of the institution and an important part of daily operations. You will meet with students, teachers, and guests, contributing to creating a welcoming and professional atmosphere.

Responsibilities

The student assistant is a student who, alongside their studies, supports the operations at the Ingesund University College of Music by:

  • Receiving and providing service to students, staff, and visitors.
  • Managing the daily operations of the reception, handling phones, emails, and some administration.
  • Assisting with booking rooms, meetings, and equipment.
  • Performing certain administrative tasks related to the operations.

Qualifications

You must be admitted to a program or one-year courses at the basic or advanced level at one of the University College of Music's programs. You must also have good knowledge of both Swedish and English.

All employees at Karlstad University must also have good collaborative skills and treat colleagues and students with respect. They must take responsibility for both the operations and their own work and contribute to a good working environment.

Evaluation Criteria

Special emphasis is placed on good academic results and personal qualities such as strong organizational skills, teamwork ability, flexibility, attention to detail, and a high level of service. Great importance will be attached to personal suitability.

Conditions

The position is fixed-term part-time, with a workload of 10–20% of full-time, equivalent to approximately one three-hour shift two to three days a week. As a student assistant at MHI, you will work during daytime hours. The work schedule will be agreed upon in advance. Start date from autumn term 2026-08-24 or by agreement, until 2026-12-20. The position may be extended, but for a maximum total of three years, provided that the qualification requirements are still met.
