About Södermalmsskolan

Södermalmsskolan is a grades F-9 school that, together with Björneborgs skolan, belongs to the central school district. Södermalmsskolan has approximately 850 students and many competent employees. Premises and the schoolyard are distributed across F-3, 4-6, and 7-9, where each stage has its naturally defined area with space for play and creativity.

As a teacher, you contribute to developing the operations in the right direction and provide our students with good conditions to grow and develop into creative, curious, and secure individuals.

Job Responsibilities

In the role of teacher in our special education group, you are responsible for planning, implementing, and following up on education for students in grades F-3 who have difficulties functioning in the regular school situation. The education takes place in a small group with high staff density, but the work is intensive and requires high pedagogical skill, great confidence in leadership, and good ability to collaborate closely with teacher colleagues and other professionals.

Your responsibilities include among other things:

  • Planning and implementing education based on the students' individual needs, conditions, and daily state.
  • Creating structure, clarity, and predictability in the students' school day.
  • Actively working with low-affective handling, relationship building, and adaptations to prevent stress, conflicts, and difficult situations.
  • Handling situations where students may become strongly acting out and where physically challenging behaviors sometimes occur.
  • Together with colleagues, being responsible for creating safety, study peace, and a functioning learning environment even in situations that can change quickly.
  • Collaborating closely with guardians, student health services, school management, and external actors if necessary.
  • Documenting, following up, and developing methods regarding the students' learning, well-being, and school attendance.

Qualifications

Formal Competencies

  • Teacher education for grades F-3 with accompanying teacher certification.
  • Experience working with students in great need of special support, preferably within an adapted learning environment, special education group, or similar operations.

Personal Competencies

We are looking for you who have good collaboration skills and enjoy working closely with colleagues, student health services, guardians, and other professionals around the student. You are empathetic, service-oriented, and have pedagogical insight, which enables you to meet students based on their different needs and conditions and adapt education and handling accordingly.

You are clear in your leadership and create structure, safety, and predictability in a learning environment where this is crucial. We are looking for you who are flexible and can adapt your working method based on the students' daily state and the situations that arise during the school day. You are stable, enduring, and have personal maturity, which means you can maintain calm, judgment, and a professional approach even in challenging situations. Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.

Employment Terms

Employment Type: Fixed-term employment.
Duration: 6 months or longer.
Start Date: According to agreement.
End Date: 2027-06-17.

If you are not a citizen of Sweden, the EU, EEA, or Switzerland and are offered employment, you must be able to prove that you have a valid work permit or are exempt from the obligation to have a work permit.
