Göteborg Stallbacka Airport

Göteborg Stallbacka Airport is a regional airport with a central location in West Sweden – an important societal function that creates accessibility, growth, and development. The airport is jointly owned by Trollhättan, Vänersborg, Uddevalla, and Lysekil and is served annually by over a hundred aircraft types. The airport is in an exciting phase of development – with growing operations, new demands from the external environment, and a strong focus on environment and technology.

Our scheduled flights to Stockholm, Visby, and Sälen are operated by Västflyg, and as an emergency airport, we are ready around the clock for socially important transport.

We continuously invest in infrastructure and green technology to meet future demands for efficiency and environmental friendliness. With the highest approved percentage of sustainable aviation fuel and participation in the Green Airport project, we are driving development towards a fossil-free Swedish aviation sector – targeting 2030 and 2045.

We are now looking for a Safety Manager at Göteborg Stallbacka Airport

Do you want to contribute to the further development of a regional airport with clear growth potential in central West Sweden? Göteborg Stallbacka Airport is now looking for a Safety Manager / Aviation Safety Coordinator responsible for the airport's Safety Management System (SMS).

You will work in a safety-critical operation where aviation safety, structure, and regulatory compliance are in focus. The role involves independent responsibility for developing, monitoring, and supporting the operation in aviation safety matters.

This role is to act independently of other managers in the organization, with responsibility for reviewing, monitoring, developing, and supporting the operation from an aviation safety perspective. The role reports directly to the airport's Accountable Manager and serves as an advisor to management, managers, and operations.

The role of Safety Manager with us is intended to be combined with the role of Training Manager, which also involves assisting the Accountable Manager with responsibility for the airport's training and competency control program.

The position is a nominated post according to current EU regulations and requires approval from the Swedish Transport Agency.

Examples of tasks

  • Responsible for developing, managing, and monitoring the airport's Safety Management System (SMS).
  • Drive and support work with risk identification, risk analysis, and safety assessments, as well as initiate and monitor safety-improving measures.
  • Responsible for incident reporting systems, deviation management, and analysis of aviation safety data.
  • Coordinate and participate in aviation safety investigations and lead the aviation safety group.
  • Ensure that safety-related documentation, procedures, and instructions are kept up to date.
  • Support managers, employees, and external suppliers in aviation safety matters.
  • Participate in audits and coordinate contacts with the Swedish Transport Agency on safety matters.
  • Assist the Accountable Manager in the responsibility for the airport's training and competency control program.
  • Ensure the correct scope and level of training and competency for airport staff.
  • Ensure that instructors and assessors are engaged as needed for airport-specific training.
  • Monitor that training is conducted according to established intervals and report to the responsible manager.

Qualifications

We are looking for you with at least a completed upper secondary education and experience of working in safety-critical operations. You have a good understanding of safety management systems, good computer skills, and are confident in IT environments, as well as experience in training and competency provision.

A university degree in a relevant field or equivalent is meritorious, as is experience from airport operations or aviation safety work.

Your background may, for example, be within:

  • Airport operations or other aviation
  • Other safety-critical operations, such as industry, transport, or the Swedish Armed Forces
  • Work with training and competency development

For the role, you must meet the Swedish Transport Agency's requirements for Safety Manager/Aviation Safety Coordinator according to EU 139/2014, which means documented experience and good knowledge of airport regulations.

Personal qualities

You are analytical and structured with a strong safety focus. You have high integrity, work independently, and create trust in the organization. You have good administrative skills and are accustomed to working with safety and quality management systems.

As a person, you are:

  • Collaborative with good ability to influence and drive change
  • Accustomed to working with management systems and documentation

You express yourself well in Swedish and English and hold a B driving license.

We place great importance on personal suitability. We look forward to receiving your application now and no later than August 9, 2026!
