Description

The Psychiatric Clinic consists of inpatient care, with a 24/7 emergency department, and psychiatric outpatient services in Falköping, Skövde, Lidköping, and Mariestad. The inpatient care comprises four wards with a total of 58 beds in completely new and modern facilities at Skaraborg Hospital in Skövde, as well as an additional 33 psychiatric forensic medicine beds in Falköping.

We train AT (basic) and BT (specialist) doctors and have received consistently top grades in recent years, which continuously attracts new ST (specialist training) doctors. We are constantly working to develop our processes and are working purposefully to achieve full medical staffing.

Are you a doctor interested in psychiatry?

The Adult Psychiatry department at Skaraborg Hospital is now seeking further additions to our ST doctor group.

We are looking for you who are genuinely interested in the conditions that affect brain functions and who want to help develop our operations. You will join a strong and cohesive medical team with the ambition to become one of Sweden's best psychiatric clinics.

• Regular supervision by an appointed specialist supervisor.

Job Responsibilities

Within inpatient care, you work together with consultants, perform diagnostic assessments, deepen your knowledge of psychiatric treatment and applied psychiatric law, and participate in the medical management of the ward. Supervising students, junior colleagues, and AT doctors is seen as a natural part of your duties. As an ST doctor, you become a key person in ensuring the daily work on the ward runs smoothly, and you maintain close contact with nurses and care assistants.

During the ST period, there is a longer placement at one of the four psychiatric outpatient clinics. Work in psychiatric outpatient care is based on consultant-led multidisciplinary teams where patients are divided by diagnosis and receive adapted treatment. You independently follow up on patients over time, deepen your knowledge of psychiatric diagnostics and treatment, and handle more acute cases such as care certificate assessments and home visits. Even in outpatient care, you work with the support of consultants for each respective team.

As an ST doctor, you are expected to be part of the department's ongoing internal training program – both for other staff groups and, of course, the many trainee doctors who pass through the clinic.

The position as an ST doctor also includes on-call duties at the psychiatric emergency department.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who are a licensed physician with an interest and curiosity for adult psychiatry and who see psychiatry as your future specialty.

If you are graduated or licensed outside the EU/EEA, you must have the eligibility to work as a doctor in Sweden. If you are studying to be a doctor abroad, the requirement is that you study within the EU. Great importance will be attached to personal suitability.
