Description

The Swedish Coast Guard is seeking a temporary Station Commander for Gävle.

Responsibilities

The Station Commander has overall responsibility for the station's operations. You are expected to plan, lead, and develop the station's operational activities from a holistic perspective, and ensure that vessels and equipment are constantly operationally ready. You will work to coordinate and collaborate effectively with other units, stations, and management. The role also involves representing the Swedish Coast Guard in various contexts and collaborating with other authorities and organizations.

The position of Station Commander includes both supervisory, occupational health and safety, and personnel responsibilities. The personnel and occupational health and safety responsibilities include, among other things, employee and salary interviews, gender equality and equal treatment issues, difficult and supportive personnel conversations, as well as competence and staffing. As an employer representative, you must promote and act in accordance with the Swedish Coast Guard's values and management philosophy, and you will be part of the leadership group of the Coast Station Unit.

The Station Commander also has goal and result responsibility for the operations and economic responsibility within the framework of assigned tasks and resources. This includes responsibility for internal steering and control within the area of responsibility and operations.

Business travel will be part of the work.

Qualifications

• You have post-secondary education with a focus that the employer deems relevant for the position, as well as several years of current experience in the Swedish Coast Guard's operations.
• It is meritorious if you have completed the Swedish Coast Guard's basic training and have experience from a managerial position.

You should have a strong interest in personnel, economic, and budget issues. You are goal- and result-oriented, with good analytical and administrative skills. You are communicative, flexible, and driven. We assume that you have good computer skills along with good ability to express yourself in speech and writing in both Swedish and English.

We place great emphasis on your ability to lead and develop both the staff and the operations. You have a good ability to stimulate employees to make good contributions, delegate tasks, and make decisions. Other characteristics necessary for the position are very good organizational and structuring skills. You need to have a high degree of integrity and be careful and committed. Great importance will be attached to personal suitability.

Conditions

The employment is a temporary position from 2026-09-01 until 2027-04-31, with a possible extension.

For employment, Swedish citizenship, a driver's license for passenger cars, a drug test, and a security check according to the Security Protection Act are required.

The Swedish Coast Guard participates in foreign missions and international operations. Therefore, the employment includes an obligation to serve abroad when required for the operations.
