Hospitals in the West is an administration within the Region of Västra Götaland and consists of four hospitals – Alingsås Hospital, Angered Community Hospital, Högsbo Community Hospital, and Kungälv Hospital. Approximately 3,000 employees work with us every day to provide good, safe, and high-quality specialist healthcare.

Department 8 is a medical department with 28 care beds, specializing in Intermediate Medical Care (IMA) / specialist medicine. Three years ago, we moved into one of Sweden's most modern hospital building facilities. The work has changed as every patient is now treated in their own room, and the department is equipped with the latest technology in the field.

Department 8 will have 3 beds with an IMA focus. On these intermediate care beds, patients are treated who need care and treatment requiring special monitoring and training, but not intensive care. There is a higher staffing density of nursing assistants, nurses, and doctors at these stations. You will have great opportunities to encounter many different and interesting medical diagnoses within our three departments.

Tasks and Working Methods

On Department 8, each nurse will be responsible for a maximum of 7 patients, of which 3 beds are IMA-focused. The work is led by two unit managers in a shared leadership model. The work on the department is knowledge-intensive, developmental, and exciting, and we provide advanced medical care. We work in teams with a person-centered approach, collaborating with nursing assistants, nurses, paramedics, and doctors to best utilize each other's competencies. We are looking for nurses for day and evening shifts.

Qualifications

You must be a licensed nurse, and experience from the medical field is an advantage.

For us, it is important that you are driven by developing care with the patient in the center, as well as actively sharing your knowledge with colleagues and equally curiously taking part in the competencies of your colleagues. Introduction and shadowing are assessed based on your individual competence to ensure you get the best possible start.

Clinical Foundation Year

For you who are a newly graduated nurse/radiographer, the Clinical Foundation Year is included during the first year of your permanent employment. The Clinical Foundation Year includes lectures, process-oriented nursing guidance, and practical training of your profession at the Simulator Center. It also includes shadowing in other units to give you a broader understanding of the hospital where you work. This is an initiative designed to give you the opportunity to further develop in your profession and build your professional identity.
