Sandarnaskolan is a nearly newly built school with fresh and purposeful premises. The school is located by Sannaparken in Majorna and currently has approximately 235 students from preschool class to grade 6. We share the building with a care and nursing home, which we believe is positive for both the elderly and the young. We are now looking for a school nurse who wants to be there for our students at Sandarnaskolan but also share the role at our sister school, Sannaskolan 7-9. We are looking for a school nurse for a 100% position. In the school district, there are three other school nurses on 100% positions.

Responsibilities

Sandarnaskolan is led by an assistant principal and a principal. The school has a very dedicated student health team including a school psychologist, counselor, and special educator.

As a school nurse within the primary school administration, you are part of the Student Health Medical Intervention, EMI. The City of Gothenburg has a established basic program for EMI which includes health visits, health talks, and vaccinations. The school nurse is responsible for organizing and planning their own and the school doctor's reception work during the school year. The work also includes issues concerning the students' work environment, the school's value base, and lifestyle-related ill health, and you become a link in the school's student health team. You work primarily health-promoting and preventive and contribute with your nursing competence to create the best possible conditions for the student's health, development, and learning.

In your role as a school nurse, you have the opportunity to make a difference for the students' well-being and learning. You work closely with the student health team's other staff, the school management, and naturally all pedagogical staff at the school. You also cooperate with guardians and authorities outside the school.

The principal is your closest manager. As a school nurse, you are part of a professional network for the other school nurses in the educational area, led by the medically responsible manager, MLA. You are offered introductory training and access to a mentor during the introduction period. School nurses receive job-specific competence development and have the opportunity for regular supervision outside the school.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who are a registered nurse with specialist education in health and care for children and young people, district nurse education, or further education focused on school nursing. All documentation for school nurses and school doctors as well as student health takes place in our digital journal system, PMO. Meritorious is experience of working as a school nurse and if you have worked with children and young people.

To succeed in your role, it is important that you are flexible, communicative, and have the ability to create good and trusting relationships with students, guardians, and teachers. You are confident in your professional role, responsible, and have an easy time cooperating. As a school nurse with us, you have an independent role and you need to have a good ability to plan and organize your work in a good way. Since you will be active in the health-promoting work, you are good at communicating, motivating, and inspiring.
