Job Description

We are looking for support assistants and support educators for our group home.

As a support assistant, your role involves planning, implementing, and following up on work to promote an ethical and humanistic approach towards clients, ensuring that you work together towards the same goals. This includes planning client-oriented work based on the clients' implementation plans, as well as establishing and following up on routines, job descriptions, and action plans. We place great emphasis on the clients' independence, participation, and opportunities for communication through various alternative and augmentative communication methods. The support should be given in a way that strengthens the individual's confidence in their own abilities.

Two clients with complex needs live in the group home. The clients may struggle to manage their own emotions and reactions, which can lead to challenging behavior. The ability to meet the clients with empathy, respect, and professionalism, regardless of their behavior, is of utmost importance. The guiding star in your approach towards our clients, colleagues, and other partners is Gävle Municipality's values, routines, and policies.

Together with your colleagues and unit manager, you contribute your thoughts, ideas, and reflections on how we work to develop our operations to achieve set goals. Your approach and working methods are based on national guidelines and evidence-based methods with the aim of contributing to the clients' personal development, strengthening their communicative and social abilities, self-esteem, and independence. Guiding you in your daily work are the clients' implementation plans or other action plans, instructions, and routines established for each client. You support the clients with daily tasks, ranging from cooking, cleaning, nursing, personal hygiene, leisure activities to social and authority contacts.

To succeed in your role as a support assistant, it is important that you build trust and confidence and inspire trust in those you interact with in your daily life. You are a solution-focused and positive person who can work independently but also collaboratively. You can spread calm and stability in the workplace, especially in pressured situations that may arise. You have an egalitarian approach, can distinguish between matters and persons, and have the ability to view situations from different perspectives.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who have:

• A completed education in the Care and Nursing Program or the Child and Youth Program with a focus on social work, or a vocational education as a support assistant or support educator, or other education that the employer deems relevant.
• At least one year of experience working with people with disabilities within the LSS (Act for Support and Service for Persons with Certain Functional Impairments). We highly value experience working with people with challenging behavior.
• Experience with medication management or have/had medication delegation.
• Experience with social and medical documentation.
• Good Swedish language skills, both spoken and written.

It is an advantage if you have:

• An education in and/or experience with clarifying pedagogy.
• An education in and/or experience with low-affective handling.
• An education in and/or experience with alternative and augmentative communication (AAC).
• An education in and/or experience with support signs.
• A B-driver's license and driving experience.
