Operative Medicine consists of 24 operating theaters plus anesthesia services outside central surgery. The operative activities are undergoing an ongoing organizational change to enable increased surgical capacity at the university hospital, ensuring robustness, predictability, and planning stability, while simultaneously strengthening care quality, patient safety, and the work environment.

We are a team of approximately 500 employees dedicated to developing healthcare with the goal of providing high-quality anesthesia, operative medicine, and intensive care for the citizens of Östergötland and the South-East Sweden Healthcare Region, with a focus on patient safety and quality. We are part of the national highly specialized care system in collaboration with various hospital departments. Research and teaching are integral parts of our work, as is the development of care processes.

The Intensive Care Section includes the wards for Intensive Care (CIVA), Postoperative Care (Postop), and Intermediate Care (CIMA).

All work at Anopiva is built on the foundations of patient focus, medical quality/patient safety, research/education, and teamwork. Anopiva is characterized by our shared values: respect for patients and each other, and our collective responsibility to foster good collaboration. As a university healthcare unit, education and research for all professions play a central role, and the culture of patient safety is strong within the department.
