Traveling Technical Field Advisor

A snapshot of your day

We are now looking for an experienced mechanic to join our steam turbine field service operations. You will have the world as your workplace, working on planned and corrective maintenance for delivered steam turbines at our customers' sites.

How you will make an impact

The work on-site mainly consists of planned service inspections, varying in duration from a few days to several weeks. Jobs with short notice periods may also occur.

The role offers autonomy with significant personal responsibility and is carried out in close collaboration with our internal and external customers.

In the long term, you are expected to take on a leadership role. This includes not only assembly work but also customer meetings, report writing, EHS responsibility, as well as leading and distributing daily tasks on-site.

You will travel approximately 150–200 days per year for this role.

What you bring

• A solid background in workshop, assembly, and maintenance work.
• Ability to work from engineering drawings.
• Excellent ability to work both independently and in a team.
• Strong planning and organizational skills, with the initiative to seek out necessary information.
• Open, communicative, and professional in your interactions.
• Fluent in spoken and written English, with the ability to adapt to foreign cultures. Additional language skills are a plus.
• Good IT skills.
• Meticulous with a strong sense of quality.
• Previous experience with turbine assembly is highly desirable, but other qualified assembly and field service experience is also highly valued. Leadership experience and high flexibility regarding rapid changes in planning are also sought after.

Requirements for the position include Swedish or EU citizenship, residence in Sweden, and registration in the Swedish social security system. Prior to appointment, a comprehensive health check, credit check, and criminal record extract will be conducted.

About the Team

The team currently consists of 19 mechanics/assembly leaders, who are part of the field service office in Finspång. The office comprises a total of approximately 34 employees, ranging from planners and administrators to commissioning engineers. We work with all types of Siemens steam turbines manufactured in Finspång, Germany, and the Czech Republic. The steam turbine division in Finspång consists of approximately 135 employees, including project managers, sales, finance, and technical departments.

Within the Transformation of Industry division, we reduce carbon emissions for the industrial sector. We see increased demand for green hydrogen and fuel derivatives to support greater electrification and efficiency. With a strong industrial customer base, a global network, multiple technologies, and integrated execution capabilities, we create the conditions for phasing out fossil fuels and transitioning to sustainable industrial processes.
