Prolympia is Sweden's leading sports school at the primary level, with operations ranging from Gothenburg in the south to Umeå in the north. Prolympia Sundsvall's F-6 (preschool class to year 6) activities are located in a scenic area in Haga, close to outdoor recreation areas, Baldershov athletics stadium, and Norrmalm football stadium. The 7-9 (year 7 to year 9) section is centrally located at the Neptunus block in Stenstan. Here, we offer a 'school in motion' focusing on knowledge, safety, sports, and health for students from preschool class to year nine.

About You

Prolympia Sundsvall is now looking for a special needs teacher for years 7-9 in mathematics. Being a special needs teacher is an important role, and to give our students the best possible conditions for development, we are looking for the right people for our school!

We are looking for someone who has high expectations of our students' and educators' knowledge and values. You are a driven person with a positive attitude and share our values and basic view of sports as a tool to create good health and good academic results. You also have good communication skills, are clear in your leadership, and find collaboration easy. In your daily work, you have the ability to build trusting relationships with students, guardians, and colleagues alike.

Responsibilities

Your responsibilities include supporting students with challenges to find strategies to absorb the teaching in the best way possible. You work with smaller student groups and sometimes one-on-one. Part of the role also involves mentoring teaching teachers in mathematics. At Prolympia, we work according to a specific method regarding extra adjustments, special support, and teaching for our special needs teachers and special educators. It is very important that you are flexible and accustomed to working at a high pace.

As staff, you also contribute to making daily life function for the students, which may include pedagogical lunch breaks, recess supervision, and homework help. The expectations for the role follow the Swedish National Agency for Education's regulations and general advice.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone with post-secondary education in pedagogy and teacher training, with a license and relevant qualification to teach students in lower secondary school, preferably with a special needs teacher education in mathematics. We expect you to have good knowledge of the school's mission and previous experience from pedagogical work. Furthermore, you should have good IT skills and be accustomed to using digital tools in daily work. Great importance will also be placed on personal suitability.

The position is full-time with a 6-month probationary period. Employment requires a certificate of no criminal record (extract from the criminal record register) concerning work in schools and preschools, issued less than one year ago.
