Your Role

Do you want to help shape how we drive and develop our project operations – while simultaneously creating real business value? In this new position as Head of Project Management Office (PMO), you will play a key role in setting direction, building structure, and creating the prerequisites for successful projects throughout the organization.

Our operations focus on component maintenance across several branches – primarily aviation, but also other parts of the military and maritime sectors.

In this role, you take a holistic approach to the project portfolio and work both strategically and operationally on how we prioritize, steer, and follow up on our projects. You are responsible for establishing clear structure around project governance and ensuring that our models, ways of working, and tools are effective and adapted to the business needs.

Initially, a major focus will be on establishing a common way of working according to Saab’s project methodology. You will drive the development of the project operations forward, creating prerequisites for high quality, good delivery capability, and long-term benefit. At the same time, you contribute to transparency by tracking progress, costs, risks, and benefit realization, while ensuring that reporting and forecasts support well-founded decisions. The goal of your role is to build a professional PMO where competence and a common way of working are in focus.

The role also involves coordinating between line organization and projects, managing stakeholders, and supporting prioritization and decision-making. Our projects are often complex with many internal as well as external interfaces.

Your responsibilities include, among other things:

• Ensuring that the project portfolio aligns with the business goals and strategies
• Prioritizing and balancing projects based on business value, risk, and resources
• Developing and managing project models, methods, and governance structures
• Driving quality work, risk management, and lessons learned
• Being responsible for project forecasts

As the leader of the PMO, you have overall responsibility for the group’s delivery and development, where you develop both individuals and ways of working with a coaching approach.

Your leadership responsibilities include, among other things:

• Leading, coaching, and developing project managers and employees
• Ensuring the right competence, staffing, and work environment
• Being responsible for recruitment, onboarding, and competence development
• Monitoring performance and creating clear prerequisites

You are part of the department’s management group and actively contribute to the development of the business.

Travel may occur in the position.

Your Profile

We are looking for you who are a confident and engaging leader with the ability to combine structure, business acumen, and a genuine interest in people. You have experience leading change and thrive in a role where you get to create clarity, direction, and engagement in a business with many interfaces.

You have a good understanding of the entire lifecycle of project operations and feel comfortable working both strategically with portfolio management and more operationally close to the projects. You are accustomed to developing ways of working and driving improvement initiatives that have a practical effect.

To succeed in the role, we see that you:

• Have several years of experience in a leadership position, preferably with personnel responsibility
• Have several years of experience in project management and/or project governance
• Have a relevant post-secondary education, or equivalent work experience
• Have worked on developing processes, methods, or governance within project operations
• Have a good understanding of prioritization, resource planning, and portfolio management

As a person, you are communicative and relationship-building, and have an easy time building trust at different levels in the organization. You are receptive, structured, and have good analytical skills, while also having a strategic perspective and seeing the big picture.

You communicate fluently in Swedish and English, both orally and in writing.

Experience in leading leaders is an advantage.

The position requires that you undergo and are approved according to the current security clearance regulations. For positions where Saab has requirements for security classification, this may, in some cases, entail requirements for certain citizenship.
