Our Operations

The Psychiatry Department at Akademiska sjukhuset is organized into four subspecialized sections, where the Adult Psychiatry Emergency Department and the Psychiatric Emergency Care Unit belong to the Acute and Consultation Psychiatry section. The Adult Psychiatry Emergency Department provides 24/7 emergency services and has overall responsibility for psychiatric emergency operations as well as consultation services for the rest of the hospital. The emergency department also includes a Psychiatric Emergency Care Unit (PAVA) with twelve beds and the PAM unit, staffed by specialist nurses.

Your Role

As a specialist nurse, you, together with other specialist nurses, are responsible for leading and developing psychiatric nursing care both at the patient level and at the unit level. You bring a nursing perspective to the interdisciplinary team and provide collegial supervision to colleagues. You work in both the Adult Psychiatry Emergency Department and the Psychiatric Emergency Care Unit; there is also an opportunity to work in the PAM unit.

The Charge Nurse at the Emergency Department has overall responsibility for the emergency department and the emergency room to ensure good and safe emergency care together with nursing staff and doctors. You monitor patient flow, perform initial acute assessments, and triage patients.

The Charge Nurse at PAVA has overall responsibility for providing good and safe care, as well as delivering person-centered and evidence-based nursing care to all patients in collaboration with other professional groups. Here we work in teams, and you are responsible for approximately 6 patients together with care assistants, cooperating with the other team on the ward in a shared overall responsibility for the patients.

Your Qualifications

We are looking for a new colleague who is a specialist nurse with a focus on psychiatric care. Previous experience working in psychiatric emergency care is meritorious, but we do not see it as a requirement. Experience and knowledge of leadership, supervision of students, and experience in quality and development work within psychiatric care is desirable and meritorious.

You are interested in developing in your role as a leader and in the care of patients based on core competencies. You want to work in an acute flow with constantly new patient contacts, you work according to the profession's code of ethics and translate it into practical action in relation to both patients and employees. You are proud of your profession, have good analytical and reflective skills, and contribute your nursing perspective.
