Skolan Fria Emilia

Fria Emilia is an independent, non-profit primary school (grades F-9) in Boden. We meet our students with an approach inspired by the Reggio Emilia philosophy of participation and exploration. We view students as rich and competent individuals, carriers of differences that enrich us. Our school has been around since 2004. For the 2026/27 school year, we have 260 students and 48 employees.

The school is located at Intendenturvägen 11 b, in the upper part of Boden. It is close to the bus stop, and bus connections to the school are excellent. This makes our school accessible whether you live in the city or in the surrounding villages. We are close to nature and the beautiful ski trails in Pagla. We are proud of our schoolyard, which was planned together with a landscape architect to promote joy in movement for our students. The schoolyard also includes a school forest where teaching can take place.

Our lovely facilities are divided into three floors, each with a central square. Creating meetings and good relationships is important to us. The same educators are in the building throughout the school year, and substitutes are well-known to the students. As staff, our goal is to know the names of all students from grade F-9. We want every child to be seen and for differences to be viewed as an asset. This creates security for both parents and students. Our Bistro serves two dishes and a salad buffet every day. One of the dishes is always vegetarian, and everything is prepared in our own kitchen. In addition to the well-prepared meals, the school offers fruit every day.

At Fria Emilia, we want students to experience their time at school as a whole and to have a long-term perspective on learning. Learning in different ways is central to our teaching together with the students. Our students learn for the future and leave primary school with good results.

Responsibilities

We are looking for you who have a teaching license for grades 6-9 and want to teach Physical Education and Health. We would appreciate it if you also have qualifications in Social Studies (SO) or Swedish. The school works with a two-teacher system, which our educators value highly. Each week, time is set aside for collegial reflection for you as a pedagogue. You will be part of one of the school's wonderful and driven work teams, and together with other educators, you will help develop the school and the students' learning.

Qualifications

We place great emphasis on personal suitability. You have a positive view of students and assume that all students want and can learn based on their prerequisites. You possess good ability to create professional and good contacts with students, guardians, and colleagues.

A sense of responsibility and good teamwork skills are some of the personal qualities you bring, along with an interest in working in accordance with our core ideas. To do this requires flexibility, good listening skills, and the courage to question and challenge yourself and others. We strongly believe in working together; work in school should not be a solitary effort, and we therefore strive to make work as much as possible a team effort.

Terms of Employment

The position is a permanent full-time (100%) position with an initial probationary period of 6 months (provided you meet the School Act's requirements for qualifications). Start date: August 11, 2026, or as agreed. Recruitment and interviews are conducted continuously. The position may be filled before the application deadline.

At Fria Emilia, we apply a holiday service model with a local working time agreement that includes general compensation time. Our agreement enables collaborative work between school staff and a sustainable working life. When the working day is over, you go home; no after-work tasks are expected of you. In practice, you can be off during virtually all holiday days, resembling a holiday service, but with the advantage that you have greater influence over when you schedule your leave during the school year. We follow the academic year plan of Boden Municipality.

At Fria Emilia, all staff eat pedagogical lunch together with the students in our Bistro, where school meals are prepared by our chefs.

We offer one hour of "life care" per week. Yes, you read that right! With this concept, we want to signal that it is a breathing space without requirements for counter-performance. You decide for yourself what you want to do to feel good. In addition, there is a contribution of 1,750 SEK/year according to the Swedish Tax Agency's requirements.
