Description

The catering department in Ljusdal Municipality is responsible for preparing and serving meals to children, students, and elderly people, as well as producing chilled meal boxes for customers living independently. The operations include a shared administration and several production and receiving kitchens throughout the municipality. The goal is to cook as much as possible from scratch and continuously increase the proportion of organic and locally sourced ingredients.

Job Responsibilities

We are looking for an engaged cook for Los Preschool. The work involves cooking, preparing special diets and adapted meals, preparing raw food, serving, dishwashing, and local cleaning. You work based on set goals and guidelines, follow the meal strategy and the Swedish Food Agency's recommendations, and promote a sustainable work approach with a focus on reducing food waste. You are responsible for the kitchen's budget and ensure that the operations are conducted within economic frameworks.

An important part of the role is handling special diets and adapted meals with great care to ensure the safety and health of the children and students. This requires very good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written, as well as the ability to interpret and follow recipes and instructions.

You also handle orders, check deliveries, and manage the inventory. The workday follows a schedule adapted to the preschool's needs. A pedagogical approach is central in interactions with the children to create a safe and positive meal environment.

Qualifications

You have a cook's education, or education within the restaurant and food program, or equivalent education as assessed by the employer. Very good knowledge of Swedish in speech and writing is a requirement, as is the ability to carefully read and understand recipes and other written instructions, especially for special diets and adapted meals. You have good computer skills and experience with administrative systems, preferably cost data systems like Matilda. Experience from large-scale kitchens and safety routines is desirable.

Personally, you are proactive, responsible, and service-oriented with a strong focus on quality and care. You are also pedagogical and empathetic in your interactions with children to contribute to a safe and positive meal experience. A trial employment period may be applied.
