Building and maintaining roads and infrastructure is significant. Contributing to societal development is even greater. With us, you get to do both. We are now looking for a paving worker for the Industry division and our laying operations in Kalmar. At Svevia, we combine the camaraderie and team spirit of a small company with the stability of a large corporation. Here, you have the opportunity to develop as a road specialist with engagement, collaboration, and responsibility.
Your Role as a Paving Worker
As a paving worker with us, you will be involved in both large and small paving projects. Our clients include the Swedish Transport Administration (Trafikverket), municipalities, private customers, and other operations within Svevia. Since the size and nature of the projects vary, the tasks are diverse and offer opportunities for professional development. You will belong to a work team where you jointly perform paving works according to specific orders and existing regulations. You are responsible for maintaining vehicles and technical equipment in good condition, handling materials, measuring equipment, and other technical gear to ensure the final product meets the customer's quality requirements.
We primarily carry out paving works in Småland and Östergötland counties and surrounding areas. You will work from home and can therefore live geographically in Småland. Travel with overnight stays is common. Some work is performed during inconvenient hours.
Who are you?
We are looking for you who have a few years of experience in paving work and enjoy working on the road. We view it positively if you have tried most roles in a paving crew. A Category B driver's license and proficiency in the Swedish language, both spoken and written, are requirements when working with us. A driver's license with BE category is an advantage. Some computer skills are also considered a merit.
To succeed in the role of a paving worker, you need to be a team player who shows respect, supports, and cares for your colleagues. We see the work team as central to achieving success and delivering results, so your ability to collaborate is extremely important. You keep the customer's wishes in focus and work methodically to ensure our product maintains high and consistent quality. You simply love delivering world-class results!
Safety is highly prioritized at Svevia. We aim to have the industry's safest workplaces and most secure traffic environments. This means you need to follow statutory requirements, rules, and safety regulations associated with the role. Additionally, you will be punctual and keep your promises.
At Svevia, we apply individual salary setting for blue-collar workers and have an agreement on annual working hours. This means you primarily work during our season from April to December and are on leave during January to March, provided you have reached your annual working hours during the season. We offer a wellness allowance of 5,000 SEK per year. We are happy to tell you more about this during a potential interview.
Part of Something Greater
Svevia's industry division is in an expansion phase, and ambitions are high. The goal is to be a leading player in paving in Sweden.
Behind every road lies more than just the visible surface: an entire industry of knowledge and delivery capability. Our offering is an industrial process. From stone to finished road.
It all starts with a quarry, which then becomes ballast, which in turn is used in the production of asphalt, which is finally laid on the road. With over 100 own rock quarries, own production of asphalt, bitumen emulsion, and thermoplastics, we have a breadth that no one else has. In our laboratories, we perform material analyses and ensure that products meet standards and requirements. And our skilled teams in milling, asphalt laying, tank paving, and road marking ensure the delivery is complete.
Why Svevia?
With us, you quickly become part of the group, and we care about being a workplace for everyone. Decision-making paths are short, and it is easy to make your voice heard. At the same time, you become part of a practical reality and a company where concrete results are created with steaming asphalt machines, large snowplows, and tons of reinforcement steel and concrete. With your professional knowledge, you can make a difference on the road. And we always put safety first – both with care for your own working environment and the safety of others.
For you who want to take the next step in development, there are many opportunities. Whether you want to deepen your knowledge within your specific area or move forward into a supervisory position.
Together, we make cities and countryside function. Do you want to share the road with us?
Application and Information
You apply easily by sending in your CV and answering a few selection questions. Our recruitment process is based on a competency-based approach, which is a prerequisite for recruiting in a quality-assured, inclusive, and unbiased manner. Therefore, we do not want a cover letter. In connection with your application, you will be asked to answer a number of questions about your interest in Svevia, your experience related to the role, and which positions in spreading/machine crews you have competence in.
Submit your application by August 5th. Selection is made after the last application date, and you can expect feedback during August.
If you have questions about the position, you are welcome to contact Construction Manager Henrik Prècenth via [email protected] or Talent Acquisition Partner Anni Fredriksson via [email protected]. Questions will be answered with some delay during July due to holidays.
