We offer a position as a Specialist Physician. At the Lung and Allergy Section, you will be part of the Department of Medicine at Kalmar County Hospital. The section conducts investigations and treatment for a broad spectrum of pulmonary diseases. We have a ward with 7 beds for primarily pulmonary patients, a lung and allergy clinic, an oxygen and home ventilator clinic, as well as an investigation and cytostatic day-care unit. We have a modern bronchoscopy unit with fluoroscopy capabilities, and there is also advanced simulator equipment for bronchoscopy training. There is an ongoing process to implement EBUS within the department in the coming years.

Working as a pulmonologist with us means you have the opportunity to deepen and develop subspecializations within pulmonary medicine as well as work with acute internal medicine. The Department of Medicine is well-staffed with consultants in all internal medicine subspecialties.

We work closely and together with all staff categories on the unit, where everyone's competence is equally important.

About you

We are looking for you who are a specialist physician in pulmonary medicine. You have good judgment and can communicate clearly with both colleagues and patients. Teamwork and initiative are other important qualities for the position. We work in teams and with a patient-centered perspective. Specialist competence in general internal medicine, experience in teaching, research, and medical development work are meritorious. Great importance will be placed on personal suitability.

Specialist physicians who meet the criteria for a consultant position at Kalmar County Hospital are offered this position. The Department of Medicine provides 24/7 on-call services, and participation in on-call duties is part of the assignment.

Your future workplace

The Department of Medicine is the largest department at the county hospital with around 350 employees. Specialized care is provided here in all medical subspecialties. For three years, medical education has also been conducted at the county hospital, and the Department of Medicine is active in many courses. The department's physicians form the basis for all student education. The Lung and Allergy Section is part of the Department of Medicine, where all internal medicine subspecialties are represented. The department has a total of 76 beds distributed across 3 wards. Joint education takes place several times a week. The section has five lung specialists and one allergist. Specialized nurses are available at the various clinics. We have a well-functioning collaboration with, for example, radiologists, oncologists, pathologists, palliative care physicians, and Linköping University Hospital.
