At the Palliative Medicine Unit, we offer meaningful work focused on the needs of each individual patient. We strive to identify and nurture health, providing patients with the highest possible quality of life. You will care for inpatients on the ward as well as patients in their own homes. Care is provided in close collaboration with the patient and their relatives within a multiprofessional team consisting of doctors, nurses, nursing assistants, social workers, dietitians, occupational therapists, and physiotherapists.

About You

We are looking for a registered nurse who wants to work in a role where you can make a difference in people's lives. We prefer that you have experience and education in palliative care. You are confident in your professional role and patient-focused, meaning you have the ability to see the patient as an individual with specific needs. Furthermore, you are positive, flexible, solution-oriented, collaborative, and comfortable working both in teams and independently. Since part of the role involves support and counseling, it is important that you possess the ability to communicate honestly, openly, and authentically. As part of the work involves home care, a valid driver's license (Category B) is required. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.

The Palliative Medicine Unit is part of the Geriatric Clinic and specializes in palliative medicine. We also operate our hospital-affiliated home care service (LAH), where we offer specialized palliative medicine in the suburbs of Kalmar. Care is available 24/7 and is delivered by a multiprofessional team with specialized knowledge and competence in palliative care. We welcome students, nursing assistant trainees, and doctors in training. We ensure high competence through internal training, continuous professional supervision, and daily reflection sessions. Current research findings are integrated into care early on.

The Geriatric Clinic offers inpatient care, home care, and outpatient services. We strive to see and develop health in the most ill, offer a geriatric or palliative team to those who need it, lead and develop the content and scope of geriatric and palliative medicine, and particularly prioritize patients with the greatest needs.

Kalmar County Hospital is one of three hospitals in Kalmar County. It is an acute care hospital with specialist care, maternity care, and neonatal care.
