Laboratory Medicine is a county organization with operations in Lycksele, Skellefteå, and Umeå. Laboratory Medicine Västerbotten comprises approximately 520 employees within clinical genetics, clinical immunology and transfusion medicine, clinical chemistry, clinical microbiology, and clinical pathology. The organization also includes biobanks, healthcare hygiene, and tissue banks. The operations are accredited.

Clinical Chemistry is located at Norrlands University Hospital in Umeå and at the district hospitals in Lycksele and Skellefteå. Clinical Chemistry has approximately 140 employees, of whom 110 are based in Umeå. Clinical Chemistry in the county produces approximately 7 million analysis results per year.

At Clinical Chemistry in Umeå, there are two sections: one providing round-the-clock sample analysis, and a chromatography/mass spectrometry section operating during weekdays in daytime hours. You will work in the chromatography/mass spectrometry section within a small work group consisting of biomedical analysts and chemists.

Job Description

As a biomedical analyst/medical biologist with us, you contribute knowledge and commitment that make people feel secure.

You will work with sample sorting, preparation, analysis, and validation of patient samples, as well as maintenance of analysis instruments. Analysis is performed using gas chromatography (GC) or liquid chromatography (HPLC) coupled with mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS).

Qualifications

We are looking for you who are a licensed biomedical analyst, biomedical scientist, or have another three-year natural science education that the employer deems equivalent. Experience in clinical laboratory work and LC-MS/MS is meritorious.
