As part of our team, you will have the opportunity to influence development and contribute to a sustainable and attractive Varberg. The Department for Strategic Societal Development is part of the Societal Development Office within the Municipal Executive Board's administration. Here, we create the prerequisites for long-term sustainable societal development in the municipality through assignments in strategic societal planning, ecological sustainability with a focus on climate, nature, and water, as well as social sustainability through issues such as public health and crime prevention. Our employees possess high competence and great commitment to the municipality's development.

Job Responsibilities

As a manager, you lead and engage the department's employees toward the municipality's goals. You create structure, direction, and good conditions for the operations. By leveraging and coordinating the department's competencies, you strengthen the strategic work and delivery. The assignment also includes contributing to common working methods for developing, implementing, and following up on strategic policy documents.

Main responsibilities:

• Join the leadership group of the Societal Development Office and contribute to the overall development of the operations
• Lead, plan, and follow up on operations based on set goals, assignments, and budget
• Develop a sustainable work environment with a focus on inclusion, gender equality, and participation
• Work on improving, renewing, and transforming operations in accordance with the municipality's overarching work.

Qualifications

We believe that you, the applicant, are a strategic, communicative, and development-oriented leader with the ability to create results through others. You have strong drive and the ability to lead complex societal development issues. Through a coaching leadership style, you help others grow and work together both within and outside the organization. You are goal- and result-oriented and have the ability to ensure a delivery from operations that contributes to the whole.

We are looking for you who have:

• University or college education in the field of societal development or similar
• Experience in leadership roles
• Experience working with strategic societal development issues

It is meritorious if you have:

• Experience working with innovation
• Experience working with organizational transformation
• Experience leading teams with broad competence and several different expert areas
• Experience with municipal operations

We will place great emphasis on personal suitability and make a holistic assessment of your combined competencies.

Employment Conditions

• Salary: Monthly salary.
• Employment type: Permanent position.
• Duration: Permanent, start date: 2026-09-01. Start date according to agreement.
