Your Responsibilities

As the Head of Department for the Pipe Network, your primary mission is to deliver sustainable water services and plan operations based on our business plan. You are a central part of the work contributing to the long-term sustainable and secure societal development of the municipalities of Halmstad and Laholm. At the request of the CEO, you are responsible for the company's work to distribute drinking water to every customer, receive, divert, and treat wastewater and stormwater. You are responsible for planning and leading the operation, maintenance, and renewal of our pipe network, which is approximately 300 kilometers long, emergency fault repair, and play a central role in planning and maintaining the company's emergency preparedness operations. As Head of Department, you are part of the management group and thus share responsibility for the company's strategic structure and leadership.

The department is new, giving you a unique opportunity to shape the operations based on your experience and perspectives. Approximately 30 employees currently work in the department. About 15 employees report directly to you in the role of Head of Department. The remaining employees work within operations and are led by the Operations Group Manager, who has personnel, operational, and budgetary responsibility for their area. As Head of Department, you are operationally responsible for the renewal operations, consisting of approximately 15 employees and a planner. You have personnel and occupational health and safety responsibility for the employees who report directly to you and are simultaneously responsible for creating good collaboration between the department's different operational areas. You lead and develop the operations together with the Group Manager and foremen. The role includes, among other things, resource planning, recruitment, salary setting, competence development, result follow-up, budget work, and driving overarching process and improvement work for the department.

Your Qualifications

Requirements:

  • University or Civil Engineer degree within, for example, civil engineering, environmental technology, road and water, mechanical engineering, or other education and experience that the employer deems equivalent.
  • Documented multi-year experience of leadership with associated personnel, budget, and operational responsibility.
  • Valid driver's license (Category B).

Merits:

  • Experience from the water and wastewater industry, especially pipe network work.
  • Experience from similar production operations or as an entrepreneur, experience in planning, steering, economic follow-up, and efficiency improvements in progress.
  • Experience leading other managers.
  • Experience in management group work and strategic operational development.
  • Experience from the public sector and/or politically directed operations.
  • Good knowledge of legislation and requirements affecting the operations, such as the Environmental Code, the Act on Public Water Services (LAV), as well as occupational health and safety regulations.
  • Education in leadership, change management, or culture development.

The role requires that you can switch between strategic and operational issues and work equally successfully independently as in collaboration with others.

Other Information

The position is security classified, which means that security clearance interviews with our security coordinator and register checks will be conducted on the final candidates. Additionally, we conduct reference checks, alcohol and drug tests, and background checks on all candidates before we write employment contracts. This is our way of taking responsibility to maintain high quality, both in the recruitment process and in our occupational health and safety work.

During the holiday period, we will respond with lower frequency, which may mean slightly longer response times to any questions during the summer. We return in week 33 and answer questions thereafter. After the application period has ended, we review the applications and get back to you with feedback. If you proceed, you will receive tests to complete, followed by a phone check, a competency-based interview planned for week 37, and finally a candidate meeting with union involvement in week 38. We always take references from final candidates.
