Department of Social Planning, Fire and Rescue Services, Operational Unit

The Fire and Rescue Service is looking for you who are interested in working with the internal competence coordination of the fire and rescue service, as well as participating in an operational role as an Incident Commander and Duty Officer.

Your assignment

In this assignment, you have both a coordinating role and an operational role.

In the operational role, you will act as an Incident Commander but will also be able to participate in the county-wide role as a Duty Officer.

As an Incident Commander, you will lead and coordinate rescue teams at the scene of an accident. As a Duty Officer, you will lead and coordinate rescue operations from a broader perspective from our command center in Jönköping.

In both parts of the operational role, you are expected to collaborate well with other fire and rescue services and operations.

In the coordinating role, you will primarily work with the fire and rescue service's internal competence needs, thereby enabling the personnel to have the right ability to perform their tasks both operationally, preventively, and administratively.

The role involves developing, planning, and following up on the fire and rescue service's various competencies. As part of the coordination, you will also participate in both exercise planning and exercise activities.

Your tasks in the coordinating role will include among other things:

• Planning of competence supply in the short and long term for all operational fire and rescue personnel.
• Planning and follow-up of the fire and rescue service's internal exercise and training activities.
• Planning and follow-up of the introduction of new employees. This includes various basic training courses and driver's licenses.
• Participation in both exercise planning and exercise activities.
• Collaboration, both internally and externally, on issues regarding internal competence towards other coordinators, organizations, and authorities. Examples include the municipality, RäddSam F, and MSB (Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency).

Additional areas of responsibility and tasks may be added depending on the needs of the operation and your personal interests and competencies.

Your profile

• We are looking for you who have completed the Fire Engineer Education with RUB, MSB's Command Course 2, or equivalent.
• It is meritorious if you have more than one year of operational experience as an Incident Commander.
• It is meritorious if you have MSB's Preventive Supervision A or equivalent.
• You must have at least a Category B driver's license.
• You must meet the set requirements to participate in the operational activities.
• Great importance is attached to personal suitability. Examples include being responsible, flexible, having good teamwork skills, being outgoing and engaged, and having the ability to take initiative.
• It is important that you can express yourself well in speech and writing.
• You should be comfortable with the most commonly used computer systems within the fire and rescue service.

Information about the employment

The terms of employment are regulated by collective agreements. We offer a permanent full-time position according to agreement. Individual salary setting applies. In Värnamo Municipality, all permanent positions are advertised as full-time. If you instead prefer part-time and the operation can accommodate a lower degree of employment, this is of course an option.

Since the position is placed in a security class, a standard register check will be carried out in the event of employment. The employment assumes that you are approved in the register check. To be approved in the register check means, among other things, that you must be a Swedish citizen.
